STO launcher saying I am using old driver and won't load.
As the title states, I ran the game just fine yesterday, nothing changed on my PC at all, yet today the launcher won't let me in game, stating that my drivers are old (completely up-to-date). Tried loading the version I had previously, but no luck. Also verified my files through STO launcher. HELP.

Did the OS do an update in the background maybe? it might have stuck a generic Microsoft driver on your tricked out Ferrari of a Graphics System and you'll need to roll that driver back to a previous version in your device manager. Also, new terms and conditions for Microsoft rolled out October 1 so that might be something gumming up the works if you haven't accepted their new Eula to use your property in the way they want to most conveniently data mine you with. Try doinking your Windows Updates and see if it isn't an Apple iPhone Battery situation going on there my dude. Just a couple variables to easily exclude before really having to dig, but a likely suspect at this particular moment in space-time. Jolan Tru!

I've had to do that before hehe. It's annoying, but it was the first thing I thought. I removed the driver, re-installed the newest, and still no luck. Not sure what's going on here. Thanks for the reply, though!
you could try windows 10 compatibility mode. that involves opening the folder that the launcher is in however.

I use a retail "driver easy" paid 30.00 annually for three license keys. It has solved some very pesky driver issues over the last year and change. Theres something like 150 of drivers of all kinds on the computer now and it keeps it all updated.

The Nvidia Card updates every 6 weeks or so like clock work a gig here another gig there and more gigs taking up.

It got to where when the STO quits working or some other game program crashes badly I knew that it wants a new update installed onto the Nvidia card with the latest version.

Its alot easier to just open the program, hit scan button, update all button and wait. Go play after reboot. Done.

I have a copy of all of them on DVD. So if the computer burned up and I reimage onto a spare I will simply feed off the DVD and be back in play within a couple hours at most. The last time one of my computers burned up and fried took me to school to learn how to install windows using a memory stick and some other goodies which made the old method of installing windows and all that obsolete now. No DVD Drive? Not needed. Throw it on the box. Lets go.

At some point I see a future where computers simply run Andriod or apple and the entire Linux, Windows, Mac etc simply do not exist anymore.

Android is Linux, and Mac is Apple.

I had a similar problem, and that helped. In the launcher, under options, activate "Safe Mode". In the end it was a driver issue, but you seem to have excluded that already.

Check to see if you have "Kernel-mode hardware-enforced stack protection" turned on. :P

Anything that technical should have a disclaimer and it does. Don't ask me how it works or what it is but I hope it helps. Linux users may know this as a heap and people argue about terminology all the time.
