Does Zen ever go on sale?
Just wondering if Cryptic ever has sales on the price of Zen? It's so dang expensive and I certainly cannot afford a lifetime membership. I haven't been playing for that long so I haven't seen any sales yet. So far I've normally just buy $5 worth or $10 worth here and there, little by little.

Kind of, they usually have deals around big events like Black Friday, Christmas and the games anniversary for examples. The price structure doesn't go down I dont think (from what I have seen) but you get extra bonus zen in those times so you effectively get more for your money. I might be wrong though on whether the price ever actually does go down as I don't tend to buy Zen that often.

The lifetime subscription also goes on sale occasionally (though rarer I think) and that gives you a ton of in game bonuses like ships as well as a 500 per month zen stipend, so could be considered a longer term investment.

So unfortunately you may have to get used to the price, but you can wait for a better deal than what it usually is at.

That being said, if money is an issue you can sell Dilithium on the exchange for Zen but the exchange is usually stuck at 500 dil per 1 zen so you need to farm a lot during events and on different characters where possible to get a lot.

Edited to add - I have noticed in the past too that the zen prices on the actual arcgames store website (https://www.arcgames.com/en/storefront/star-trek-online) have been different for me than the prices you see on the in game store, as well as the bonuses being different too. That could be a currency thing though as I am in the UK, but I figure I would mention it just in case.

They usually have a sale about every three or four months, usually for 4-7 days. The sales are often limited ONLY to purchases on Arcgames.

As mentioned, the price stays the same, but you get more zen - usually 20%. There's also a bonus for large purchase amounts that is always available and can be up to 15%, so the best deal you can get works out to 35% extra zen.

There's also item sales in the in game store - by stacking these with zen bought during a sale, you can get close to buying items for half of the normal cash to zen equivalency.

The Lifetime membership sometimes goes on sale also, at either 33% or 50% off. It's only available via Arc, not in game, so you can't stack sales on it. But it includes a refund of 500 zen per month *forever* (I'm about five years beyond getting my money back at this point - I bought the lifetime in 2014.)

There are regular zen sales on their own platform and on the epic games platform pretty much every sort of star trek anniversary or major western holidays and commercialism days like black friday/week. The Epic games platform always run zen sales at the same time as the arc does.

if you have a epic account you can get the same amount of zen at 2/3rd the cost compared to the arc site due to regional pricing etc etc, most whales with a brain make a epic account and buy transferabel/tradable items on the epic store with a epic account, and send them to their main account (like master keys, promo boxes etc)

You can use sites like this one, to anticipate whenever a event / sale is going to come, since they are so similar every year and it's quite uncommon for them to break their own system.

Thank you guys for the tips and advice, I really appreciate it. I'll wait for the sales then to get more for my money. I would consider a lifetime subscription if it's 50% off. I only started playing fairly recently and I'm really enjoying the game so far so I have no problem giving the developers some money for their work.

Since you are a new player, I would also recommend checking key reseller sites like G 2 A and K I N G U I N (Steam doesn't tend to like their links though lol) for STO promo packs. You can usually buy them cheap and they will give you unlocks like inventory and bank slots as well as sometimes having stuff like Uniforms, Ships, bridge officers, consoles and ground weaponry.

They release new promo packs with every update so with the current Lukari one coming out, its only a matter of time before there are freebies being given out on intel, steelseries, alienware and epic for the game.

Another tip too, level a Klingon character to 65 as one of your first ones as it will unlock cross faction flying for your whole account for free which would let starfleet characters fly Klingon ships and vice versa, so you can recreate your very own version of the HMS Bounty! ;)

Thanks for the advice and I'll definitely check those websites out. I only have a Starfleet character right now, my next character I'll make a Klingon.
