Do you mean the Aoy Megapack?

Thats got like a ton of ships in it so if you are a massive fan then sure go for it.

You know that DLC is a choice right? you don't have to be outraged if you aren't interested in it...

No joke, it's just all (new) micropurchases rolled into one big bundle. At a hefty discount I might add (compared to buying them all separately).

All which are optional, and about 85% of which you won't use anyway (low tier ships for example, good for maybe 2-3 hours of play before moving on the the next tier).

Not a recommended purchase.

None of the DLC packs sold on Steam for STO are a recommended purchase or needed to enjoy STO. You can Play for Free the whole game.

Please also keep two things in mind:

1) Each Pack $129.99USD is a Pack of ships, costumes and options worth over $500USD if bought separately.

2) Each major DLC pack was released during an Expansion.
a) Original game launched February 2009
b) Legacy of Romulus expansion and DLC released May 21, 2013
c) Delta Rising and the Delta Ops DLC Pack released October 14, 2014
d) Agents of Yeasterday and the Temporal DLC Pack (not on Steam) released July 6, 2016

So it goes 18 months between expansions and DLC Pack right now.

Its like any other MMO, They'll release these big megapacks with abunch of ♥♥♥♥ in for maybe 10 dollars all the way to 150. Or in the rare chance even 300

Path of Exile has "DLC" packs that go way above $1000 and I don't see you complaining about that.
Glamboro Jul 9, 2016 @ 3:21am
The cost is not the DLC actually, just in game store items bundled up at a discount. You can easily ignore it as the new content is free. They just make it available for people wanting all the new items for cheaper than getting them without the bundle.

Only that the pack is not "cheaper" because you end buying things you not going to use... lol.

Some people do use all of them tho. Those are the people the packs are targeting for selling it to. I only went the Romulan Starter pack around teh time it was released because I was interested in the T'Varo and Liberated Borg Reman Bridge Officer for all my Romulan toons on the account. (3 since buying the pack) I didn't care for the Mogai, D'deridrex or Haakona Advanced Warbird, Already unlocked the Reman Race with the New Romulus Reputation. So the starter plus Dhelan, Dhael, and Scorpion purchases were all I needed to get for my own taste.

With the Delta Operations pack they are all Tier 6 ships and I would like most of them so that pack is a good deal for at that point instead of buying them all seperately if I could afford to buy the bundle. I also have 15 toons on the account so could use all of the ships and extras in that pack if I was interested.

The New Temporal pack contains very few ships that I really want to get making that one not worthwile for me. Only care about the Battlecruisers, Escort and the Temporal Raider Cross faction ship for ship as I already have teh Tier 1 Constitution. Then there is the Bridge officer and Torn TOS uniform that I want. So another Starter plus extras is my better route like teh Romulan release time frame.

Also the visual components, and consoles/Quad Cannons can be used on thge Teir 5 and 6 versions of the same ships so just because they are low level they could still be of use to players in top tier levels in that regard. Some of teh low level ships have consoles that are basically required for certain builds at endgame. (Not that they are required to run that build but the build is assembled around the console)

Best plan tho is just wait for Cryptic to do their giveaways tho. That is how I got the Scorpion Razor insider reward), Perigrine (Alienware giveaway), Yellowstone, Dhelan (or Dhael from 24 hour freebie day), Valdore (Mogai Refit), Nebula, Valiant (Tier 6 Tactical Escort from Raptr), plus various other ships that I own now. Sure you won't have said ship around release in most cases but still saves you money. There are a bunch of MMO websites doing AoY starter pack giveaways/raffles atm.

The target are rich kids and money whales that will buy everything they can/want in the moment cryptic releases it. Since the beginning of times. And sure, you will probably will use a low tier ship when you create a low level character, after that, bye (lets say a day that it takes to advance 10 levels). Other gimmicks like costumes and stuff look great on paper, but in-game you are going to be dissapointed A LOT. So, again, same happens with other stuff. Some people who buy the pack will end using just a couple of T6 ships and probably not much more.

And since this is an mmorpg (people keep forgetting it) its better to buy thing as you need em, and save money (if you are going to make the stupidity to invest real money at least do it in consecuence :s).
Thing is, alot MMOs have RLM items that are tradeable and help the games economy. Here not so much. Which in that case makes packs viable.

Given it's the extra stuff for Expansions, it should be about £30 - 40; the price of an expansion pack for most games. Not the price of 3 or 4!

And again you fail to see that this how most MMOs, especially F2P ones work.

Rich kids and money whales, as you put it, are the only targets MMO publishers really care for because they are the ones bringing in the big money.
Everything else (people paying now and then for single items) is just frosting for them, nothing worth talking about and certainly nothing to depend on.

Without those "stupid" rich kids (again, your terms), there would be no game for you to ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan about.
any game by this production company Perfect World Entertainment is sure to bring you one thing... pay to play, this is one of the greediest developers\productions companies ever... stay away.
Mocha Jul 10, 2016 @ 9:37am
Atleast they arent ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SWTOR where its either kill yourself playing free or pay to subscribe for a full and decent game rather then spending 5 weeks grinding to level 20, missing out on subscriber only XP boosts, hell ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SWTORs KOTFE expansion was subscriber only, unless they changed that.

Atleast here its not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "Everything good is locked behind a paywall" since most pack ships are low tier/make the pack worth it to some people.

Sorry that happened to you, but that isn't the packs fault.

No. Again, STO is not pay to play, not by a long shot. The common feature of PWE is the greedy factor, yup, but they know how to do it in a lot of ways. This time, they are saving a lot of money giving the development to a crappy company like cryptic, that will develop lousy broken content all the time, without investing a dime on fixing, or improving things. Thats another way. And its working like a wonder. It seems that, nowadays , players prefer terrible unpolished games with millions of bugs and graphic glitches everywhere, badly optimized engine and a huge etc. Thats sad, but unfortunately in this case is a reality.
Because thats all companies make, are broken, glitchy games and alot of the time never get fixed, so we as a population of gamers have gotten used to the fact most triple A devolpers are greedy cash cows.
