Best Hanger Pets

Hey guys i have the t6 Jupiter carrier and i've managed to save up some di.

Which are the best hanger pets to upgrade to? The advanced Callisto light escorts or the advanced peraguin fighters?

Or any other recomendations?

Generally cannon based pets heavily underperform 'cause the braindead AI can't handle their weapon arcs properly. The one big execption would be elite Scorpions since the spam HY plasma torps which hit hard.
I'd recommend obelisk swarmers or tholian widows. Some fed pets like the delta flyer and runabout may have some decent abilites but generally die before utilizing them the properly and lack firepower.

Don't get elite swarmers. Elite pets are a giant waste of everything these days. Ever since the great nerf (shortly before or after DR, don't remember exactly) elite pets are alomost worthless. Neither their shields, weapons or hp are better than advanced pets, the only differences are the ranks of their abilities anymore.

For the jupiter go with the Callistos. Frigate pets (when available) are way way more better/durable than fighters even if there are fewer of them.

Advanced will do, as mentioned Elites are not that much better, but if you have the resources to get them from your fleet might aswell.

I'm running a Jupiter in a shield drain/torp build with Callistos and Perigrines. i like the balance of having frigates and fighters. if you slot the Callistos make sure you have a shield drain; their dps is pretty lousy w/out it

In terms of modern hangar pets... callistos and perigrines are fairly mediocre. At one point callistos were your only option for frigates, but there are at least two other universally mountable frigates now: the tzenkethi shuk-din, and the cardassian yukawa. Both are superior to the callisto, and both can be slotted in any ship's hangar.

Admittedly, the shuk-din are tough to get a hold of (they come with the Tzen-tar, which is a promo ship) but the yukawa come on pretty much any of the newer cardassian ships. The yukawa are little beam boats with torpedo spread, which puts them a peg higher than cannon-based pets that have narrower firing arcs (and rely on the rather dubious pet AI to line up their shots).

Fighters are more robust than they were at the time this thread was active, and they can dish out better dps (usually).. but do need to be refreshed more often. The old favourites are still among the best: the elite swarmers and the elite scorpions.

If you happen to be KDF, and can get a hold of the Sarcophagus ship, the Mo'kai raiders are just the best thing ever.. use those in everything.
