Zone Chat?

Hey,
How long do you have to play to have access to zone chat and private messages. It's pretty annoying that I can't even respond to private messages because apparently my account isn't old enough.

I think it's 20 hours in-game across any number of chars, a C-store purchase, or previous subscription.

I don't remember having to pay to chat its a time limit thing unless its a new gimmick. Maybe its rank/level based?

seems to be the 20h thing. Quite a long time though. Especially in the beginning when you'd actually could use some help

Suppose so, but the reason behind it (spammers can't recreate accounts quite as fast) requires it to be not-trivial length. Nowhere near effective tool against spammers though, they've got nothing but time....but what would be the alternative? Forced payment?

My account is four years old. I've been playing one character for 57 hours. I've purchased Zen. And yet I cannot chat. Can anyone help with this?

WTF is this all about? I made a new toon last week, and he could Zone chat after the first few storyline missions; didn't buy anything.

New accounts (not characters) are barred from use of Zone chat until certain requirements are met. This thread is about that restriction.
