STO Connects on Wired but not Wireless Connections
I found out a rather peculiar problem with connecting to STO on my laptop. I was having a lot of issues logging into the game because I would often get "Connection to the login server has timed out" messages after launching the game. After a couple of weeks of troubleshooting and speaking with tech support with Arc it seems the problem has something to do with my wireless card. Over the past couple of weeks I have used 3 different ISPs in different areas of my city and I had the same login server time out messages. All those time I was using wireless connections. Today I tried a wired connection and the game logged in no problem.

What is beyond me is I just don't quite know where the actual issue lies with the wireless card on my laptop. All the settings are fine, the firewall rules are the same, and etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Couple of notes:
1. The login server timed out messages were ingame. It has nothing to do with the game launcher itself.
2. It is nothing to do with my wireless router as I had the same login server timed out messages on multiple wireless connections. I am just putting this here to save you and myself time on suggesting checking the router.

You did not really provide a lot of data to try to get a plumb of what the issue is....

My wife's Dell A-8 4500M laptop can play wireless....

Pretty much her and my son's tower on TP-Link 450mb cards can connect....

dunno how is your wireless node setup.

I am using a ASUS GL752VW laptop. The wireless card it uses is a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265.

Sounds to me like it is probably your node then....

You check your portals on the Wi-Fi?

I am not exactly familar with the term portals unless you mean ports? The game is allowed through the firewall and I even disabled the firewall and I stll had the same issue on the 3 different Wi-Fi networks I tried.

"Portal" port sorry I am old.

Have you tried logging on to any other games or MMOs most especially Neverwinter or Champions?

My son was on last night, my wife checked things this morning so it is not Cryptic I am almsot certain.

The issue seems to be with my laptop wireless function. Though I can't seem to figure if it is software or hardware related. I've reinstalled the drivers, deleted and readded STO manually to the firewall, and such but the issue still persists. However this problem has happened on 2 other wireless networks as well. STO is the only program affected though. Other programs, web services and streaming have no issues. :S

are you use os windows 10?

have you tried limiting distance to node?

have you updated to latest version?
are you have trouble dowloading in general?

have you gotten the correct port?
Ports: TCP: 80, 443, 7000-7500

one last ditch effort i can think off:
Press the Windows Key + R
In ther run window that opens type cmd and press enter
Type: ipconfig /flushdns into the command prompt window and press enter

and last but not least and what i tell most gamers.
Disable on-demand patching in the game launcher options.
Select the Force Verify option from the game launcher options.

goodluck.

kind regards baphogir

are you use os windows 10?
-Yes

have you tried limiting distance to node?
-All 3 wireless networks I tried were in close promixity, a couple of meters at most was the furthest distance.

have you updated to latest version?
-Everything is up-to-date.

are you have trouble dowloading in general?
-No issue downloading. I have no other issues with any other program that uses the internet over wireless.

have you gotten the correct port?
Ports: TCP: 80, 443, 7000-7500
-STO is allowed to access all in/out ports.

one last ditch effort i can think off:
Press the Windows Key + R
In ther run window that opens type cmd and press enter
Type: ipconfig /flushdns into the command prompt window and press enter
-This was one of the things Arc support had me do but it had no effect.

and last but not least and what i tell most gamers.
Disable on-demand patching in the game launcher options.
Select the Force Verify option from the game launcher options.
-On-demand patching is off and force verify does not detect any issues.

problem with starting gamelauncher so it seems, you are close.
have you tried restarting you're router or modem then launch the game again?

do you have other "shield programs"windows defence/firewall-antivirus programs blocking sto
from using correct ports?

web brower might block ur acces use CC cleaner (free software i use it 2) to clean ur computer/laptop.
i seem to remember that did the trick for me when i last time timed out.
you alreaddy did the ips thing
hmm get a long (not to long) coaxial cable?

other than that i can only refer you to
https://support.arcgames.com/
dont be afraid the contact them again.

-The issue isn't that anymore as I have had the same issue with 2 other wireless networks on different wireless modems.

from using correct ports?
-I have disabled all anti-virus/firewall programs before on 3 different wireless networks and the problem persists.

-I don't think cable length is issue as I can log into STO online without issue. Only on wireless networks do I get the issue.

-Arc support won't assist anymore as the problem is on my end and not with the game itself.

wear some garlick your computer/laptop is sucking you're life away.

are there any other equipment running over that modem/router
phone tablet? (they might get prioritized over you're laptop/computer)

did you access windows control panel. windows supports setting up network profiles that enable the operating system to remember the necessary network?

is there an installtion in the neighborhoodof your router/modem
maybe a stereo/radio?
is the location of the router/modem in a free from obstacles spot?

network adapter ok? have you tried switching usb/ethernetport?

one last thing i can think of test your wifi signal strength other than that
contact you're service provider
or
try a local- trustworthy computer/laptop farmer /ict/it guy-

goodluck kind regards Baphogir
