but its good to have something else on the list, the sci one isnt popular I suppose.
For a free ship it's not bad, but I just for right now don't see it being competitive end game. Something to get you there, then trade out for something better.
To be fair, that's sorta event ships in general. I might try for a science build with the console in jellyifsh mode but it's not something I expect to be particularly fantastic myself.
Mixed Armament Synergy and Narrow Sensor Bands are pretty nice combat boosters.
Yeah they're not bad, it's just I think there are better combat boosters out there personally.
There are better Miracle Worker ships out there, with better traits and better consoles.
But again, it's a free ship. I just think some of the past event ships have been more useful... *cough* Risen Weather Ship *cough*
Oh true, true. I was just pointing those out as (in my opinion) the highlights of the MW spec. I've used them to good effect on other MW cruisers.
In either case it's an entertaining ship, and I'm looking forward to snagging it.. something that hasn't been the case for a couple of free ship events!
Well I think the question for me is "how heavy is the electrical damage/heals?" that the tentacles put out each second, and being electrical/heals "can it be buffed by Aux" which generally isn't always the case.
Because what I'm thinking is going old school and making it a hyrbid tank/sci ship. Keep the engineering slots as hull heals, but avoid the Aux2??? skills. Tactical is a nice little place for a back-up mini BFW build. Make the other LCDR science slot and make the LCDR Universal into science slots.
For those you want Grav Well, Tractor Beam, and Tractor Beam Repulsors. Grab the DOff that reverses the Repulsors, so they become puill, and make sure all those enemies your fighting don't get away and stay within the 10 km range.
Now go into battle, change to the jellyfish form, drag those groups in, grav well them to keep them nice and connected, and let your ship heal everyone, while killing those nice tight groups.
If things get to hairy, change to ship form, turtle up, move to a tankie BFW, Engie Build.
Add in some universal consoles, like mentioned above the cniderian console and the Eddy console, and you may never need to worry about the fact that your weapons are shut down half the time.
Edit: I think the biggest issue we are going to have with the above build, is that you become practically stationary in jelly form. Hence why I said use the Grav Well, tractor beam, and repulsors to drag them to you. Maybe the Romulan Tractor Mines as well.
Tractor Beam Repulsors has a range of 5km, while the Cniderian Defense sphere has a stated range of 10km, so in general it won't be a ton of use in pulling enemies INTO range of the electrical discharge. Given that standard weapons range is 10km your enemies will come into range on their own given time - few enemies try to avoid combat altogether.
Tractor Beam has a 5km range as well, the Tractor Beam Mine Launcher is 2.5km I believe.. Grav well is certainly a candidate if you have decent CtrlX, but there are some facing considerations and the Cniderian console hits you in the turn rate ghoulies too.
The defense console is unlikely to be of much use in any missions or TFOs that require you to move around, but when you're defending a point it sounds decent... and movement isn't an issue. I've used the Ba'ul Sentry Mode console which literally immobilizes you (no turning, no movement, no nothing) while it is active, but it does an amazing job of wiping the board clean of enemies.
Just to throw this out there... GravWell III at its capped range (which requires Control=400) has a 12 km radius. If your target is near the edge of your weapons/ability range, you would thus be able to pull in a ship that was around 20-21 KM away at maximum.
However, that's only from one direction (the grav well being that far off-center would mean that even with that massive range, it wouldn't even reach outside your range on the opposite side.)
With a 2 min cool down on the jelly console, it means you also can't just slip into saucer form move to the battle, then jelly back realistically.
The jelly form is a gimmick, lets be honest, and I'm not seeing a great use for it that's realistic. That said, the tractor beam, repulsor, grav well concept is the best thing I could think of that would keep a battle potentially from constantly leaving you behind and making jelly form viable.
Otherwise you're basically just a normal cruiser with a mediocre seating and that console will get constantly traded out.
