STO won't load anymore
So after the patch last week (not this week) my sto now gets the the black screen that says Cryptic on it...no load bars or anything and it just sits there (for over 8 hours once) till I decided to reboot the computer. I have tried rolling back nvidia drivers and the new ones that just came out. I tried safe mode (same issue then) and force verify the game files, done each of these several times. I tried reinstalling the game 5 times (on two different hard drives). Now once in who knows how many tries It will let me in but says my video options have been reset. (hence my idea it was a video driver. If i control alt delete early I can bring up the task manager and see the game client goes non responsive about 20 seconds after it gets to the cryptic screen)

Now keep in mind the computer configuration has not changed in a year and this computer has always played it just fine. On top of that any other game I load up works, Lotro, fallout, starcraft2, secret world all work fine which makes me scratch my head

MSI gaming 7 mobo with a i7 devils canyon processor.
Mushkin ram 32 gig
3 western digital harddrives
2 evga nvidia 970GTX (in SLI which I have disabled and attempted to load with no luck)
Creative X-fi fatality sound card

Yeah, with Agents of Yesterday - Artifcats getting released, the game's graphics settings were updated and now use DirectX 11 by default. However, if you go to Options in the launcher, and paste this into the command line (without quotes): "-d3d11enable 0 -d3d9" then it should force the game to load in dx9.

It's only the game who can't adapt to the Windows update ^^ If the game works fine good for you it's only because your computer is older and that's all. I never ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about your little game fanboy just relax. I played 50h on another account and I just want to get back to it...At least they where smart enough to let us easy options to fix it by ourself

You think that people saying that STO works on their PC is trolling? I don't know what to tell you besides that the game is running just fine on my PC.

i5 6600k, GTX 980, 16 GB ram, Windows 10

Maybe you have something on your PC that is stopping STO? Are you running any anti virus software? Try disabling it and see if that works.

i keep getting a error popping up saying my video card is out of date. even thou I just updated the GPU hours before trying to get back on to the game again and again. it worked before with my anti-virus program intacted. been using same AV program for last 2years and STO worked fine months ago. just for some reason no go. I dont need a troll, just someone who knows the walk around for this issue I'm having and thanks in advance

Have you tried using an older GPU driver version? As for your AV, disable it and see if that makes a differences, just to rule it out as a cause of the problem.

i did the AV disabled same issues. i really dont wanna use old driver, since most games that I like playing seem to be working good atm. STO will have to wait. Most likely my drivers. thanks anyways

switching it to dx9 did not help, and Ifound out that safe mode forces sto into dx9 anyways, and safe mode never worked

tried going back to 364 ver drivers and still not working. I am completely out of ideas

this is the first time I have ever had a issue with nvidia....and hate to say it i always end up with issues with amd...they have never worked right for me without fighting me every step of the way...but I am inclined to think this is a Nvidia issue as this point. Since the couple times it does work the video settings have been reset on me...be nice if we could set our video options from the launcher like so many other games...but alas we can't

And to be completley honest, AMD chips have had a few issues with STO in the past as well.

And considering it was working fine before a couple weeks ago...its not like the computer is new to STO, been playing it forever. Problem is I wanna blame it on drivers but I have gone pretty far back on the drivers and (back to last year in fact) and it hasn't helped...which has led me to it for some reason STO has a issue with my nvidia drivers...how or why I cannot say. I know all the driver updates nvidia has done hasn't helped. I am guessing for some reason my hardware is conflicting with STO software.
