Shapeshifters?

So I'm on Risel and this other player is changing into other species on the fly. Is she a shapeshifter? and if so how do I become one?

In the character creation screen, you pick the alien species (not vulcan or andorian or whatever, there's a species called alien)

I think you've see holographic emitters at work. You could spend some latinum on those if you wish to be able to do the same. No other benefits though, it's just cosmetic.

If you choose to be the alien race you can store different faces and builds as outfits then all you need is to right click your name in the top left and quick-change outfit to move between them.
