I also would like to ask few questions. I wend and tried to do few wrap up quests in delta quadrant, partol ones and I realised that my above mentiones ship sucks. I fitted phaser weapon booster. I have XII phaser arrays and one torpedo in front and one aft. Rest fo consoles are ones I currently got.
I was a bit surprised that I got anihilated like 10 times in two attempts to do quest. I expected to be harder (normal difficulty) but this was short of impossible to do with my ship.
EO Either I totally suck in fight or something is very vrong, but I admit I am close to wrap this game up if I dont realise where my mistake is. All helop is most welcome.

The fact that your weapon choice is phaser, is probably irrelevant. It does make a difference when picking specialized consoles, but I get the feeling you're looking for more basic information rather than expensive and/or rare things to buy...

The following though applies to any weapon damage type.

Couple of very basics first: Your ship having a 4/4 weapon layout and somewhat slow to turn your primary "flight path" should always put you in to broadside potition toward your target. That way all your beam arrays are able to shoot at the same target at the same time (front and aft). For the same reason I would ditch the aft torpedo for another array (how many times are you able to fire that anyway, I'm guessing not a lot). That will give you 7 beams at single target optimally.

Second thing, make sure your weapon power is set to 100%, and keep it there as often as possible to keep weapon damage high. How to manage that, depends on abiliities you have picked for your bridge officers. Emergy power to weapons should be given to your engineer for sure. Don't forget to use batteries aswell. As far as weapon damage goes, power is everything (as the "old" saying goes, EPS is DPS).

You mention phaser booster (phaser relay I believe?) You should get as many of those as possible, not sure how many tactical console slots that ship has, 2 or 3?. Preferably fleet tactical consoles if available (best in slot).

Beyond that, it becomes a lot more detailed discussion about your overall build; what abilities your bridge officers have, what are you active duty officers, what is your equipment set and what are you consoles? Energy management, ability rotation and all that fun stuff...

Thanks for tips. I will try to tweak my build a bit more.

Well delta Quad Story missions are designed for players at level 50+5... And with failure of Cryptic curbing the dreaded and unstoppable force known as "PowerCreep" those missions DO NOT scale in favor of a player level 60+ with anything weaker than Mk XV etc.. Forcing most player to adapt the tactic of Hit and FADE... meaning you target a single ship or ships, take them out, then flee breaking combat at around 20/30km then fit you hull/shield and all skill cooldowns, then head back in to do the same thing.. and you then whittle away the mob of ships..

Your greatest threatening ship to you, are the Long slender ships known as the Vaadwaur Heavy Artillery Vessel, also known as the player ship from the Lobi Store the Astika (gives a must have Starship Trait btw)
The Juggernaut is the most powerful, but you only face one of the two different named Flag ship ones, with the mission Takedown being the first mission you fight one but you have all the Delta factions you gathered and if you assign each faction to the right area you shouldn't have issue with it (I loved this mission).. the other named flagship is in an Elite TFO (also a fun mission with the right teammate)

Now about your Exploration ship, .. Now depending on what the Mk XII are you are using, they may or may not be worth upgrading to Mk XV (the cost might better invested on a better weapon etc)....

And all i mostly know atm, is that you have 6 phaser beam arrays, and 2 torps.. as far as a build goes, that first answers to the player's playstyle then the damage type and the weapon type which then narrows down what ship classes work best for the aforementioned... Example 1. Player like be fast and not be the center of focus with strong alpha open strikes, that player would be best suited in a raider class with DHCs, Player 2. just to charge in like minotaur reborn as ship, a Dreadnought or battlecruiser that can either turn well and can use DHC, or Dual Beam Bank with Beam Arrays/Omni..

So any advice that myself or others offer, is subjective because it's advice that works for that player playstyle and such.. Now, I don't have any idea of what equipment you are using, what sets you might have, IE Rep or mission rewards sets...

If you would and could take screenshot of these screen of your ship and such that would helpful to all post advice about what things you should find replacement for or just sell to NPC etc etc... and if done in box with fox, that'll be great.. yeah.. and i'll need to come in on sunday too (Office Space joke)

Very very first thing though, something LOTS of Newbies just didn't know or overlooked it.. but your ship's power levels by default they are at 50/50/50/50.. and 50 weapon power means your weapons will only do 75% of what they can at 50 subsystem (that is without factoring all the maths like distance falloff, armor, resistance to that type of damage ETC ETC).. But as a tactical player Weapon power makes your Pew pew pew go "big bada boom" you want that at 100 and over 100 while you fight in battle (you won't attain that though until you a flushed out proper build (traits, consoles gear, and all the bells and most of the whistles.. Aux will be your least needed subsystem.. It mostly get used by Tact players in the Aux2Batt build which is a combo combo of Technician Doffs they trigger the effect which is from the cause of the engineering skill Auxiliary power to Battery...

This 1st Screenie is of your ship and all the shinny and dull rusty things placed on it
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2412856520

This Screenie is of your station tab, showing what Boffs are using what skills
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2395090067
Which the info from both will show what skills you shouldn't be using or using and then gear sets that should seek out..

Now i don't know what your current Faction Rep Rank levels are with each faction, but some will offer phaser damage type Beam array or Beam Banks.. that being Disco Rep Has the SET you really MUST have as a phaser damage using beams.. has an Boss console and Dual Beam Bank, also a torp for 3 part set (myself doesn't use torps or have skill points in torps) But both DBB and Console i think need Rank 4 and 5 before you can buy them..
the Terran Terran Task Force Beam Array require a Rep Rank of 6 to use alt damage type (But is MUST have for any Phaser or disruptor damage type players)
Gamma Rep the Inhibiting Omni-Directional Beam Array with Console gives your passive CatA phaser damage bonus (my Fed alt uses this) the Omni phaser need Rank 6 though.
i'm gonna stop listing the Reps for now as i don't know you ranks or mark counts etc

Mission rewards.. Yeah "Free stuff"
Beyond the Nexus part of the New Frontiers story arc, 5th mission, gives you..
Trilithium-Enhanced Omni-Directional Phaser Beam Array
Console - Engineering - Reinforced Armaments
A torp too (but i use those) but omni is ok, and console is great for boosting EPS/transfering power from one subsystem to another, which is needed for skills that move power from one sub to another like a shell table game
But what ther prize is when play through that story arc to get the Nexus mission is the mission just before it.. Brushfire.. which gives a WONDERFUL console the
Engineering - House Martok Defensive Configuration (if you disruptor the set with nausicaan set can do wonders, plus they dust shelves and does windows without streaks

Future Proof has some goodies too
Sunrise mission, no breakfast after 1030 though.. but free Quantum Phase thingie things
Quantum Phase Beam Array
Console - Universal - Quantum Phase Converter (gives a +20% phaser CatA damage)
Quantum Phase Torpedo

That all mission rewards that come to my mind atm.. but other's i'm will post things..
There are the Lobi shinny things, and lockbox glittering things like sensor linked etc (my Fed uses Sensor link phaser set with lorca 2 set and gamma 2 set...
but your equipment... Your Warcore will be (should be) a Fleet Spire or colony, but the Spire AMP (i don't recall the exact stat version (2nd or 4th core from bottom of list think) is the mathematically better just from the -10% weapon power cost.. Colony Deflector (again i don't recall the exact stats of the one you want.. Competitive Rep Prevailing Innervated Impulse Engines (using tact boff skills like FaW BO CSW CRF boost your your ZooM ZooM speed/turn like cray cray for 5 sec (Takes a few battles/patrols to get used it) or you can use Rommie Impulse they give good turn/speed with damage bonuses too
And shields subjective, i gave the Tilly a try, but the Competitive Rep Prevailing shield just work better for my build.. Also Note, i used the Iconian Resistance 3 set with Rommie Impulse engines since they got added up until 2019 without issues, that is solid set to use before your final last set (until a nerf bat rampage or new shiny things are added)

Thank you

Just a few basic ideas for "tuning up" a build. These would mostly apply to other energy types as well, but....

* as was suggested, matching one energy type is good, then filling all tac console slots with boosters for it. The best would be fleet spire Vulnerability Locators, but the generic type are good as placeholders until you can get those.

* I also like to use (for Phaser/Disruptor/Plasma builds) a 2-pc Bajor Defense impulse and shield set, this will get you an extra 1/2 a tac console worth of damage from the 2pc set bonus. (For Polaron builds, you can do the same with the Jem'Hadar set. Sadly there is not an equivalent set for Tetryon or Antiproton.)

* Deflector should be the Fleet Colony Intervention type with a [ColCrit] mod; other mods to taste.

* weapons mods should be re-engineered to as much CrtD as possible (epic combo mod to CrtD/Dm).

* I personally suggest using only one torp, or none at all, and that torp should be in the far right forward slot. (The placement will yield slightly higher damage in practice - but not in tooltip - because it fires later in your cycle, so is more likely to hit an unshielded target.) The reason to have only one is that torp launchers (like some BOFF abilities) have a shared cooldown, so having multiples can interfere with each other, while energy weapons do not do that.

* reputation traits to include Advanced Targeting Systems (Dyson rep), Magnified Firepower (Gamma rep), Precision (Romulan rep), Tyler's Duality (Discovery rep).

* BOFFs should be Romulans with "Superior Romulan Operative" trait in all tactical slots (you can buy these at your fleet embassy), then Jem'Hadar Vanguard, Hierarchy, or Nausicaan in all science and engineer slots (in that order, as available) unless your Captain is Romulan... in which case you can do all-SRO.

* Science and Engineer console slots can be used for universals with damage booster effects - in the case of Phaser, the Quantum Phase console for example.

* also look for sets with useful parts and/or bonuses. IMPORTANT to know that you do not have to use a whole set, only enough pieces to get the bonus you like. For example the Trilithium set... the 2pc bonus is nice and the torpedo sucks, so just use the console and omni.

* If you are having survivability issues, and your budget wll stand it, get an "Exotic Particle Field Exciter [ResAll]" console. These are kinda expensive if you're on a budget but it's a full console worth of shield capacity AND damage resistance rolled into one (and also an EPG console, though that is probably not useful to your build).

I am currently working on kobali set and I am on last piece to get full 3 piece set. After that Ill get to Tac consoles to maximize ma damage with what i got. i do have one torp and it is in forward right spot. I will try to fill in as much sets as I can (I hope). Thanks for tips
cap-boulanger Apr 12, 2021 @ 8:32am
note the set bonuses are given separately depending on how many pieces you have equipped. In a lot of cases, the 3 and 4 piece bonuses are not worth the space / substandard items you have to slot to get them. In many cases the 2 piece bonus is worth it but I would not advise the whole set.

That Kobali set for example, the 3 and 4 piece ones are activated effects, one of which requires you to be at less than 25% hull, and the other is a clicky that only works for 1/8th of the time.

Also the healing bonus from the 2pc is not really all THAT helpful.... I would really advise going for a 2pc (impulse and shield) of the Bajor set or maybe the Sol Defense set instead, with possible eventual replacement with a reputation set. Meanwhile get a Fleet Colony deflector, they really are that good.

2pc set bonuses:
Kobali - +60 Hull Healing
Bajor - +19 Phaser/Disruptor/Plasma Damage
Sol - +35 Kinetic Damage Resistance, +25 All Energy Damage Resistance

The 2nd one from the end, with W->E. Technically the W->A one is almost identical but if you are running an Aux2Bat build, the W->E's power bonus does not get sucked into the loop, so it's easier to keep your E above the AMP threshold.

(AMP gives +3.3% damage per system that is at 75+ power; so if you can keep WSE all there - and you can with an Aux2Bat build - it's +9.9%)

If you are doing badly at L63 with class XII gear, fear not. You are being trolled by the scaling system.

Manufacture dilithium, buy phoenix boxes and upgrade your gear to class XV. You will find things much more balanced.

Speaking of the phoenix box, if you swap to anti-proton wepons, you can get some goodies right from the phoenix. An often forgotten gem is the crystal point-defence that wrecks seekers and fighters.

What do I get from phoenixboxes?

If you get lucky, ships & gear from events from by-gone years that cannot be obtained any other way (anymore). However, at the very bottom tier of "lucky" you are always guaranteed atleast one Phoenix Upgrade module, which I would argue is the second best kind of upgrade. Omega being the best, but that is only available during the Anniversary event where as the Phoenix is always available if you have some spare dilithium.

You don’t say if you are F2P or not. For F2P I have used CounterYolo on YouTube. He has a 2020 budget build video that I found really helpful. The video has builds for each energy type and exotic builds too. Was a great place to start.

That's really not as big a difference as people make out. F2P players can access everything in the game, except for the lifetime rewards, with enough grinding.

Also most of the stuff I mentioned in my list was episode, reputation, and fleet gear, none of which is really buyable anyway. (The one exception being the Jem'Hadar Vanguard BOFFs.)
