I find like any game playerbase is full of time wasters, (sorry cannot escape the fact that multiplayer games will contain this element) good news is that there is a select few that you will meet that are worth the time!
If joining a fleet, be wary of fleets that runned like a military installation that headache is not worth it. get a casual fleet, best advice on fleet I can give..
easy mmo leveling aswell.
The game can be fun, money can be spent to save you semingly weeks if not a month or multiple months of time investment here and there. For me in certain games, that amount of dedication and what not just seems to work, it's fun for the most part and most steps of the way. In this game i've found it to be more like working another job... Just my oppinion of the game and what not here.
Lol, what a wast of money! i probly could get all your gear in time with grinding EC/dill farming! and, it all would be free!
Not P2W since no PvP, but if you want that shiny ship, warm up your credit card since most of T6 ships (aside from event ones) are at 3K zens
Sure you can make zens without spending money, but it'll take you an insane amount of time with one char, and it's just not worth it
They only added that dilithium>zen transfer only to say "look, you can also have things for free entirely" but in reality it's totally different and out of reach with one char, you have to dedicate and insane amount of time to grind dilithium only, and it gets old real fast
Also, they like to stealth nerf some "old" ships, even T6 ones, looking at the imperial class T5-U or the command series, that's also why you don't want to spend your money
It does not have a nice F2P model, but even with that flaw, it's enjoyable
Playerbase is meh, PvE queue are only launched with the random option, or just find an active fleet and tag with 4 other dudes to play PvE
Ground play is really boring, space gameplay is kinda cool when you have the right equipment.
If you just want to play for fun without worrying about anything, you can do it.
You clearly have not played star wars the old Republic,
Sto at least gives you a locker (bank) and free customization options
- it lets you unlock the energy credit cap
- it lets you buy the jem hader race which starts new characters at a high level
- it lets you buy character slots.
with that, you can finish leveling up the JH characters and use them to start farming in game currency that can be sold for zen (real money currency) and fund everything you want or need. I have found about 5-10 farming characters is plenty. More than 10 takes too much time per day for me, and less than 5 is too little income to make reasonable progress.
its not necessary but if you want to have a really strong build you need some real money currency to get ship traits, the ships you want to fly, and a few other things. Without those you will have to work extra hard to build your character well.
Well lets be honest here. I love SWTOR, but at the same time, the "non stop content" isn't really content. SWTOR gets the same bi-annual mission content, and the rest of the "content" is generally very small, 5 minutes, "don't forget the plot" or "grind for seasonal content, content".
Those guys (SWTOR) seem like they will be around for a long time meanwhile I feel the dev's are giving up with Star Trek Online. I want this game to be playable even 10 years from now but lately I feel that the lack of content in the game is a bad sign.
Pretty much, yes.
No P2W mechanics. T6 ships ARE noticably better but not needed and the game frequently hands out free ones besides.
Story is solid, instanced content is..Okay. Has some dedicated fleets.
This is basically a casual MMO with a healthy playerbase. You can play it and have a good time.
errr... the ops post is over 5 years old...
