Endeavor perks
Any thoughts on the best strategy for spending endeavor perks? Is it better to always choose the option that provides the greatest % improvement, or the one that is closest to the trait that you'd really rather focus upon?

For example, I can get a 4% boost on a ground trait which is a low priority for me ATM, or a 2% improvement in a space trait that is more important to me.

Guess you kind of answered it yourself. Why would you not pick perks that you find more useful? Being that it is a random choice of three anyway, perks "spread around" a bit regardless.

There is diminishing returns to consider once you've gotten up the ladder a little bit. I find the last 2-3 points on any given perk is gravy on top and personally I pick perks I have less points on in that case.

Just cuz I want it doesn't mean it's the best strategy! :) I'm going to be getting around to those other things eventually.

I tend to favor space over ground.

I favored my Space Perks over ground.. but just because I get a Space Perk doesn't mean i'll take over a ground perk... Like i'll pick a Ground Damage, or Crt H/D over a space Resist Beta or whatever...

Like in this SS, It a very tough choice to make.. All three choices are Perks that in my top perks to focus on, and I want all of them, Space weapon damage would do the most for me..

But for me my focus is on the Perks that add to my outbound damage with CrtH% and CrtD% being the top two Perks.. (I somehow maxed my Space CrtH% before reaching Endeavor Rank 30)

CrtH/CrtD, Energy/Weapon damage, Turn Rate, Speed, HP, and Resistance i'd say are the Perks I focus on..

"Space Resist Beta"

Can you tell me what this refers to?

Yeah, just Vellari pointed out... All the Damage types that Players and AI can deal/take are broken into 3 "groups.. Which he has also listed...

And if you were to put in an order of importance.. I"d say that Beta Group is the most important, followed by Gamma then Alpha... If you were rank them order to focus on if given the chance..

The reason Beta group would be more important than the other two groups is because of the damage types it covers... 4 of the 5 damage types are very common and used by many types of enemies... FIre damage is uncommon in space and not used by many enemies..

How these numbers will apply to your character/ship is this..

The old cap for the Resist Perks was 15.. now it's 20.. and can be 22 (+20% if you unlock via recruit tasks) is the new Perk cap... but 20 resist isn't 20% resistance.. STO has a diminishing returns system which prevents enemies and players from becoming invincible with 100% resistance.. There is a soft/hard cap for resistances.. 1500/75% is the highest any resistance can reach... Which you can easily see diminish if you place more than 1 armor that gives resistance against something, that the 2nd and 3rd will have vastly little added effect..

How that Perk would apply to your ship though..
If you if you look at your ship or character status page (one of my ship here)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2312429982
You will see what your damage resistances are for the different damage types..

Using Disruptor Resist as an example, it shows 31.6% and if you had Beta Group maxed at 20 you would add that on top of the 31.6%.. the 20 Resist (DRM) would = 16.5% Damage Resistance (DR)... 31.6% + 16.5% = 48.1% Resistance

Thanks, that was extremely helpful!

I always go by what I think will be most useful. Sometimes I get one that is fairly useless in comparison. I'd much rather get an increase in something I want than a bigger increase in something I don't. I'd much rather get 2 chocolate bars than 4 servings of tofu.
