How to Commission a crew?

Hi, I'm kind of new to the game and I was wondering how do I Commission a crew? Because I have 1 more slot available for an Engineer it always tell me that the bridge is full. Thanks.

Your ship has stations and under your charactors name on the left is crew roster, if you have gray slots like this pic, you have space for a new crew member if you don't you would need to get rid off someone to make space

I think I've received new bridge officers during several missions, but I haven't figured out how to swap out my current ones. Are the new recruits being stored somewhere...or do they just get discarded?

If you open your chatacter gear UI, navigate to the "stations" tab at the top, and look at the bottom of that section of UI there's a button that will show you your bridge officer candidates in reserve.

It's the button at the bottom center of my screen in the above screenshot.

You can discharge/promote a bridge officer by clicking on their individual tab and clicking on "career options."

If the new guys aren't just sitting in your inventory; Open up the character panel > go to the Stations tab > at the bottom you'll see a line 'crew waiting to be commissioned' or some such with a number showing you how many. If you click on that it'll open up a panel showing you who's waiting to be one of your officers.

If you click on one of them it'll open up a drop down menu that lets you dismiss them (delete), commission them OR turn them into a training manual. Saw you already have a guy that you like, BUT you don't like one of his skills - distruptor fire since you use phasers. If one of your waiting guys has a phaser skill of the right rank you can use, you could turn the waiting guy into a phaser training manual and just have your old guy learn that.

Swapping out:
- If you don't have any open officer slots all you can do is delete the old guy and commission the new to take his place.
- If you do have slots open, commission the new guy and then go to the stations tab and click on the dot beside the guy you want to swap out. All of the people that could fill that slot and what skills they have will show up on a drop down menu.

Best advice for this game is click on everything to see what it does or what it opens up.

That's what the game is referring to as your bridge. If one of those slots is not free, you will not be able to comission a new officer.

what you're missing is a bridge officer slot/space you do get a few of those as you level, sadly i can't remember 100% when it is you get free extra slot., but i assume from what boff layout you have you're very low level, and as you level you do like i said get a few more slots.

you can either
1) keep leveling to get more slots/space for "boffs" as they are called

2) you can "dismiss" the green tactical officer you have "kolez" and keep elisa flores (as you level up you'll get new free ships. you get a free one at lvl 10 20 30 40 50 they will have different seatings depending on what you pick)

3) you can use one or all of the following giveaway in these links (make a throw away gmail account and register for them so you don't have to use your main email account even)

OK I see what the problem is and it comes down to wording.

First NO you don't have an available slot for Engineering. What that means to most is over on the left hand side, the column of your current officers. If there was another blue slot without a name in it, THAN you'd have an available slot for A officer.

What you're referring to is you have an open bridge station and you won't be able to fill it until you can commission more officers, including an Engineering one.

For now you'll just have to leave that bridge station empty.

He has 2 tact boffs but his ship only has 1 tact station so he can get rid of kolez or elisa to make room for a engi that he can buy from the exchange or the room next to quinn to the right
