Is it possible to get through all missions with Tier 1 ships?

Hi, returning player here, last time I played I ragequitted because the missions got to difficult at max level and I had no idea what I was doing, but now i do thanks to the internet. Anyways, decided to go off on a clean slate by deleting my old characters and making a brand new 23c Starfleet character, my intention is to go as far into the missions as possible using only TOS equipment and stuff. Since most TOS ships, or as far as I know, are mostly Tier 1 and 2, is it possible to get through all the missions with these ships? Or do I have to use these colossal TNG and beyond ships to progress through the game?

you can get up to t6 tos ships but if you wanted to say stick with the t1 miranda or whatever the ship you get at the start of the tos era it would be quite hard but not impossible.

you can buy t1-4 tos ships with dilithium from the ship vendor also the t6 resolute is an upgraded version of the constelation class (ncc 1701-B Enterprise) then theres legendery tos ships such as the mirical flightdeck cruiser the miracle worker cruiser that look like the tos Enterprise and 1701-A.

so you can still kinda role play the whole tos era in the 25th century if you like

oh also the temporal science vessal the temporal battle cruiser and temporal escorts can all be changed to look like tos era ships from their futuristic look and they are all t6 bought from cstore and you can use them from lvl 1.... or 10.... i forget lol

Eventually you will have to switch to a higher tier ship for the hull points increase. As long as you upgrade your weapons and ship gear at each tier. Play the Battle of Caleb iv over and over for TOS weapons and use your temporal recruit leveling reward for your ship gear. Then use upgrade tokens on your TOS weapons.

I actually just bought the temporal battle cruiser. I don't know if I did something wrong or if this is normal, but the game is trying to make me pay an extra 17,000 Zen to get the TOS skins for the bridge and outer ship. No big deal though, I can just play with the Tier 1 TOS ship I have until I get more money, lol.

That sounds like fun, I'll have to give it a go, and it's an excuse to buy that tier 1 TOS Constitution and really Kirk it up with a holo TOS Enterprise Crew, look out Space Gods and Computer's about to be circular logic'd to death, here comes Capt. Quirk!

No you didn't do anything wrong. One of the ways the game makes money is selling skins. I too clicked on the alt skin (Ranger) for the Temporal battle cruiser until I saw the 15K price tag for it.

It did look a heck of a lot better, but I'm not dropping that kind of money.

There are (as mentioned) T6 TOS style ships... both specifically TOS ships like the Constitution, and newer ships that have TOS-like skins available, such as the Excelsior. They actually just added several (skins) with the new update last week, as well as the "Legendary" Miranda.

That 17,000 Zen pricetag is likely for a full expansion bundle (like the Temporal bundle perhaps?)... single ships are usually 3,000 at T6.

i mean, technically?
in order to make any given T1 ship even remotely viable in normal difficulty late-game content though you're probably going to have to occupy what few consoles you have with DPRM, DOMINO, what-have-you, and even then you're severely hampered by a lack of seating and weapons

as for the likelihood of obtaining either of those on a given character that doesn't already have either, and the costs involved in obtaining DPRM in particular, dropping 3000 zen on the ranger skin is nowhere as hard a sell

While true, there is no need to stick to T1 ships in order to stick with the TOS aesthetics.

For examples... there's actually multiple T6 versions of the Constitution available, as well as the TOS-styled Legendary Miranda that just came out last week, as well as several other T6 ships that have TOS-styled alternate skins, as well as the T5 Ranger Battlecruiser (and a T6 version that can use its skin).

my mistake i have over the years bought most T1-5 ships so if i have the skins that would be why

I remember years ago watching someone try to beat the game using only the original TOS Constitution class from the cash shop, which back then was a T1 or T2 ship. Using a newbie ship at higher levels, you'd have to rely heavily on drive-by tactics, meaning dumping all your heavy damage skills in all at once and then quickly getting back out of weapons range until your cooldowns expire. This gets tedious after awhile, and probably isn't something you'd want to do except as a personal challenge. I tried the same thing with a shuttle once, but lost patience.

Is it possible? Sure. Will it be fun? Certainly not! More like a pretty frustrating chore!
Though, with the rewards from the Temporal Agent event, one gets enough good equipment early on to make every free ship reasonably effective.

It's a T1... it's still available actually (though since they changed the T1-T4 ships to dilithium pricing, you can now only buy it as part of a bundle.)
