30 FPS why?
So im getting 30 FPS in Earth spacedock and 30-50 in space. Any ideas why? I have turned off the frame rate limiter.
I used to run this much better so im guessing there is an option Im missing but any advice would be great.
PC is more than capable of running this old thing so Im a bit lost! :)

Cheers

Ha, it was something to do with V sync, now getting 100+. Maybe it could not manage 60 on Earth for some reason, odd because my PC is pretty good, can run all the latest games maxed out but apparently not STO!
Ah well, at least its sorted now.
Many thanks kind sir!

My pc is about 6-7 years old and i get more than 60 fps everywhere. But there are places, like ESD that are terribly optimized (the overall game generally is, unfortunately) and it wont matter if you have the best pc in the world. In fact, some modern pcs have even more problems to run STO than older ones, because the game really doesnt get along with new videocards, drivers and stuff lol. I know it sounds stupid but it is, sadly a fact.
Classic Cryptic design for ya :|

Earth space dock renders everything in the entire instance even if your not looking at it with V-sync enabled for some odd reason which can result in lower FPS since it will lock to the highest integer of 30. Space does not have this issue. Its been an issue since they refurnished the ESD (Earth Space Dock) a while back. Its a "left over" side effect from their multi-instance rendering system would be the best guess. Hope that helps.
