Suitable T6 Ships for Engineer Tanky Role
Hi ive recently returned to STO and have just browsed the ships i havent played in quite sometime since the dyson sphere release so ive missed a lot of stuff. At the time i did get the huge bundle of dyson ships but im not sure whether they have held there spot with all those that have also been released so i was wondering what some of the better ships might be for t6 Engineer Fed Toon? if you have any answers or any place i could find my own answer please do respond.

Thanks

One of the miracle workers perhaps. Tanking really isn't a thing in the game as such...

Maybe tanky wasnt the right word i used to play a lot of beam boat styles back years ago ? does that make more sense ?

Right, any cruiser type (4/4 weapon layout) will fit that role, which specialization you want on top determines it more specifically (intelligence, command, temporal, miracle worker, etc).

As said, unless you're going for a pure meta DPS build, tank vs DPS vs healbish don't mean much - the Holy Trinity hasn't been a development goal pretty much since release. Anyone can do everything with almost anything.

Aye, if you want that tank "feel", go for a big cruiser. Excelsior (and c-store equivalents) and the GalX are my personal favorite fat ladies to make sing, but really anything will work for a solid beamboat.

Any T6 scimitar class

I'd give the Zen store Arbiter or the Fleet version the Avenger a go.. Has great Mobility and hitting power.. The Zen version also gives you the "Emergency Weapon Cycle" trait.. It's one of my Fed character's favorite ships to drive..

Also the larger ship the Lobi Kelvin Intel Dreadnought is a great ship too
(My Fed toon currently is driving a Kelvin Intel Dread)..

I hear that the T6 Flagships are quite good for tanking if you set it up right so might want to give that a look.

I usually earn all the aggro in tfos so I guess I default tank.

I successfully tank in any ship, as much of your resilience comes from your skill choice, BOffs/DOffs, various traits and gear.

Science ships can be pretty neat, as they have superlative shields; you lose weapon slots, but that also means that you won't suffer as much weapon power drain when firing so you might not lose as much damage as one might think.

Oh yeah those "Magical" ships, often driven by those 'Magical Staff' wielding Wizards types:trainbowbarf:..

I haven't seen as many of those types in TFO's like was before back before I took a break for about 220 days..

Oddly just the other day I thought about those player types when I got Taibak from the Support Eridan Belt colony.. He's one of the Doffs those types would love on their space active slot (He gives 4 extra rolls for another Gravity Well)

If Science ships had the weapon slots that Tac/Eng ships have, they would be way OP..

Not really. If a science does significant damage with it's weapons...it's not built correctly (as a science ship that is). For proper EPG builds energy weapons are pretty much irrelevant other than for procing things or filling up a set.

I feel you on that... I do recall long long long ago when I went through the Delta Quad mission line in with my KDF toon... Having to attack and kill maybe 1 or 2 then only to have to run away 50km out and heal/repair then repeat.. But this was back when Delta Rising was released.....And I think it was much harder back then compared to today in regard to how the game scaled the AI with the player... Players who had grinded up levels before doing that quest line learned that it worked against them very badly (I was one of those players)..

But my Fed character is also currenting running the Delta line atm too.. (Next mission to do is “Alliances”) If you want or need help/aid in doing them, hit me up in game Cyric@MajCyric is my Fed toon contact info.. just HMU in game, i'm normally on with him or my KDF Main toon..

I haven't spent tons of time grinding and gearing up to be awesome or anything in game but I have had a lot of success not dying with the fed miracle worker engi ship.
