Also, slot Emergency Power to Weapons 1 in your engineer boff, 1 fore torpedo, beams in the other slots - use Tachyon beam and the phasers to strip the shields, then use the torpedoes and a torpedo high yield to deliver the finishing blow once shields are down.
Later in the game, using all beams becomes more effective, but a Miranda isn't that.
till lvl 50 or 60 I always used 1 torp
then switching to all beams or all torps :P
Is there some reason to put one kind in fore and a different kind in aft?
Canon feel maybe? Even then you're better off with full quantums or full photons.
