- Make sure you are running the game as Administrator or account with administrator rights.

- Use the troubleshooting compatibility options in Windows OS.

- Use Safe Mode in the STO launcher Options, when you have troubles.

- Use Force Verify in the STO launcher Options to check the files integrity in STO, when you have troubles.

- Pull down menu of Gameplay Proxy, has choices of US, EU, None. Maybe use EU if that is where you live.

- Make sure all the game's exes are in your PC's Firewall exceptions.

- Make sure your anti-malware program active defenses is not interferring with the STO game files.

Important Game files exes in the Star Trek Online folder

star trek online.exe
Gameclient.exe
crypticError.exe

-------------------------------

- Force the use of Direct3D X11 in the STO launcher by entering in the Command Line of the launcher Options, type " -d3d11 "

- Running STO with Direct3D X12 is causing problems with many users. Try it but change to DX11 or DX10 when you have any trouble. " -d3d10 "

- At the comand line, type " dxdiag " and run the dxdiag tool to check your DirectX version and function. You might need to get a DirectX install file from Microsoft website. There is a DXSETUP.exe in _CommonRedist folder inside of the STO folder.

- Uninstall and Reload the game as the last resort, and load from the Standalone link at here. >

- Many problems with the game stem from poor or faulty Network connection between your computer and the game servers. Read the sticky thread on the official forum, "Read this before Posting to STO Arcgames forum."

To get deep into troubleshooting your STO game. >

Go to the directory you have Star Trek Online installed in your computer.

Go to Star Trek Online.exe and make a shortcut.

Go to the properties of the Star Trek Online shortcut and add at the end of target the following:

-console

Afterwards, start up Star Trek Online using the shortcut. A command prompt console should come up that will bring up some very valuable information about the issue.

- Look in the Star Trek Online directory, there are individual log files that are produced each time there is any error during game run and stored there in the top > ERRORS_year-month-day_time.txt, PACKET_year-month-day_time.txt, pct_year-month-day_time.txt (patching?), debug.txt

I am having the same issue. I have attempted all list fixes above but none have worked. I submitted at ticket with Arc games and I attached my dxdiag file with the log files. I did get a response but it was the normal blanket fix all and they move my ticket to solved. This is strange as in just a four hour break to run errands, I went from playing the game for years with no issues to the game not even getting past the splash screen. What is new is a logfile that keeps giving the same error:
1 CrypticLauncher[1]: Created. CrypticRPCManager_FindOrCreate called from e:\branches\crypticlauncher2020\libs\utilitieslib\utils\crypticrpc.c(2462)
2 CrypticLauncher[1]: Changed to state DISCONNECTED because Link doesn't exist or disconnected

I attached the log files to my reopened ticket a second time. Hopefully they will get looked at this time. What is strange is I do not even have an E drive and I have tried installing the game on multiple different physical drives as well as a new SSD with no change.

don't need that logfile, on which drive is the game data stored?

Cheino, are you on Linux , SteamOS or Mac? Neither one of those OSs work with STO without know how to use Wine or other emulation software.

windows updates are out .... double check you have latest windows update.

may just be coincidence you are crashing when the updates are out but mebbe its cos you need the updates.

are you able to play other games? have you tried the arcgames launcher(if it runs off that, that means you have a .exe error)

Verify your game files? If nothing, uninstall the game and restart your computer, then reinstall the game, then restart
