Attention: REPAIR YOUR F***ING SHIPS
Seriously, I'm constantly seeing people with multiple ship damage markers, even in Advanced. This is absolutely stupid. Listen up, if you go into any TFO with a damaged ship, especially above Normal, you are forcing everyone who isn't damage to carry your sorry scrub rear. Stop it.Learn to play. If you can't be bothered to repair your ship, stop joining Advanced (or any) TFOs. Good grief this is just wretched. What is wrong with you? Serious players do not want to carry your sorry 1000-DPS wrecks through Advanced content.

How much of a debuff are ship injuries anyway? At 1k DPS or some low number, they're not gonna affect a whole lot since they're like -.0002% or something.

Regardless, if you have a ship injury all queues should be disabled for that character until you repair them.

I'm saying they're at 1000 DPS BECAUSE of their ship damage. I typically see these goofs with a half dozen to a full dozen separate dings, and that doesn't count multiples of the same. Essentially, their DPS would go up several hundred percent by just fixing their rigs.

Fair enough. I generally don't do Advanced myself, but I do fix my ship if/when I do blow up. Still think your ability to queue should be disabled if your ship has injuries though.

Wholeheartedly agreed!

Real men know no pian, and real ships repair no damage!

More seriously, come to think about it, does the game ever even explain ship damage to new players? I don't believe it does.

I vaguely remember it being being sort of addressed early on in some kind of tutorial when I ran my first character, but I can't say I came across anything on recent alts.
(With my first character, of course, I had all but forgotten about it by the time I got to where it was relevant, so it's not like there was any actual value to the tutorial even then.)

STO does not explain many things. Personally I don't even know why the ship injury system still exists in the first place. It's about as good as the crew system was.

It's a decent idea, really... though an exception should be made when it is a full, premade group doing the queuing.

Maybe go field the idea on the official forums?

sadly these players dont visit forums /take advice /read guides

they play for "fun"
MentalRaptors Jan 30, 2019 @ 10:27am
How are injuries not addressed in STO when actually there are several accolades for them? Do people nowadays need holding-hand-walkthroughs for everything?

Could be me but I thought that Star Trek as a whole is all about exploration and discovery :lumberjack:

If it's only one person whose ship is damaged to hell, I usually don't care because when those cases occurred we finished the TFO without a problem. When most of the team is like that, then there's a problem. If you let it get under your skin then you're just taking away from your own fun. I've seen people type in all caps in team chat regarding someone with lots of damage, screaming to repair. Needless to say the screamer left the group and we finished the TFO without him. Join a fleet and make a group in fleet to run your TFO's, don't waste your time doing a pug.

This comes to mind when i see others with Damage/Injuries

https://youtu.be/ZmInkxbvlCs?t=85

Just last night i needed to Kill 50 Terrans (ground) , queued up for assault on Terok Nor..
After 12 minutes waiting and only 23 minutes left to finish my Endeavors, it found me an Adv game.. In the hallway where the group is trapped in corridor with enemies porting in low and ones above, i think 10 minutes passed and hit my 50 kills, the group all had at least 5 injuries, and none of them seemed to know the console combo to bring down the force shield.. So I said/asked in team chat, 'Guessing none of you know the correct combo" which was reply with No do you know it, I keep dying and it will go down after while without it..

I replied with a "Riiight, i'll do it then" got on my 2nd try (been a long time since doing that TFO..
And it was no surprise after that, that i also needed to point out that whoever she targets and comes at has to be the one kite her over the charged plates in the center..

After getting ported out 3 of them had 8+ red injuries.. only 1 had healed them away... I just wish took SS before saying "wow you guys are hella tore up" and those 3 exited out...

I would definitely support disabiling TFOs for anyone with ship or personal injuries. And yes, it is explained in the game in a tutorial after you reach ESD. I dunno how anyone could miss it unless they think this is League of Angels 3 and requires literally no thought or effort.

Thankfully I don't really see folks with a lot of damage on their ships but I am surprised still simply cause even if you don't keep repair components in inventory you can get it repaired for free. I do still however like to keep pretty well stocked with repair items.
