Also, Tetryon damage does high dps to shields and then drops off for armor and health
https://prnt.sc/r6w26o
When i unequip this, it drops from 245 to 237.7 DPS and other example t12 weapon dropping from 149.1 to 145.4 DPS its not a huge difference. I don't understand this game. Any idea why this weapon is good and all others are not? I made my character lvl 65, Temporal Operative 17. Maybe that "5% chance 9.1 Physical Damage every 1 sec for 10 sec" on the weapon combining with Operative passives.
Imminent Decay also provide exact same thing: "5% chance 9.1 Physical Damage every 1 sec for 10 sec" Also Decay Amplification 1 and 2 improves Ground DoT effects. Yeah that should be the reason. Cant believe all those damage difference caused by tiny %5 chance 9 physical damage. If thats the reason, i should look for a high tier better Tetryon assault rifle.
The DPS figures are the maximum base dps potential. You would need to parse yourself using the weapon compared to another to see which is truly better. Like I said, the Tet will take down shields really fast and then you are running about feeling useless as your weapon does limited damage
Be wary of trusting the stated DPS on weapons, and aware that the numbers will change depending on whether you're on a map type where a given ability or weapon might actually be used or not (space abilities show generic values when you're on the ground, ground abilities show generic values when you're in space, etc).
Try weapons out in actual combat rather than relying strictly on the stated DPS... find one that suits you, and which dispatches enemies in a timely fashion.
Tried Corfield Mining Plasma Cutter Mk 12 from Storm Clouds Gather mission. Its total garbage, its auto attack broken when cooldown is ready its not using it on the enemy when out of the battle it keeps shooting... to nothing... Turned auto attack off and tried and it was still useless.
Anyway, here is the strange part:
I just purchased exact same weapon but not tier 7, its tier 12. The only difference is tier and my tier 7 weapon still have better DPS. https://prnt.sc/r70807 Left weapon is in my inventory, and Right one equipped. Another screenshot: https://prnt.sc/r70ask This time tier 7 equipped, tier 12 in inventory and still same DPS numbers.
Any idea whats happening? I wonder will i loose that dps if i upgrade my weapon.
edit: Its tier 8 junk now. It was better than tier 12 (i tested it.) and now its junk. I lost my weapon and cost me dilitium. What a broken game. It has 106 DPS now.
https://prnt.sc/r716du
edit 2: Luckyly i found Tier 6 one with 236DPS on 50k EC in exchange.
The DPS doesn't mean anything if you don't parse your stats.
https://ibb.co/r6zJGJX this is my favourite and does lots of dps because it affects more than 1 target at a time all around you, not just in a cone like the pulsewaves.
Mark and Tier are not the same thing, and until you let go of using the tooltip DPS as your metric you're going to absolutely suck at ground content. You'll go into TFOs and wonder why everyone else is cutting down enemies like lawnmowers and your put-put-putting does almost nothing and you're dying frequently.
Seriously - go run a ground TFO with what you seem to think is a good weapon and see how that goes.
The plasma cutter is a pretty fantastic weapon, actually, especially for a mission reward. In addition to doing good damage with its base attack, its secondary fire mode is a long-lasting beam that increases its damage across its 10 second firing time. A MkXV plasma cutter should be able to kill normal tholians on the second level of nukara with two shots despite the tooltip saying it's only about "200 dps". See if your "236 dps" MkVI tetryon pulsewave can do that.
Get yourself a combat log parser and use that to determine your actual performance with weapons. Tooltips in STO are like asking a 6-year-old for information.
The herald projector is a lot of people's favourite, which is why you see it being used all over the place. It's a lobi weapon, though, so not in the immediate reach of everyone... and certainly not to deck out your whole ground crew with (which you'll also see not infrequently).
I admit only to doing that with the Ferengi whip https://ibb.co/60VFfyq
From now on i will ignore in-game DPS values. Thank you.
Mining Cutter can be good but its not a good choice for lazy players like me. Auto attack is important QoL feature which i want to keep it enabled.
*Tested on enemies in New Romulus Mountain Pass waypoint area. (tested on only humanoid enemies not tested on giant scorpion-ish thing etc.)
*Perks also changed for weapons: Assault for Assaults, Rifle for Rifles etc.
Here is my settings for the program: https://prnt.sc/r7e6xg
Here is my perks: https://prnt.sc/r7f25u
TR-116B Mk12
https://prnt.sc/r7e56c
DPS: 155 (Rifle: 125 Sniper: 357)
TPA Mk6:
https://prnt.sc/r7e5g0
DPS: 179 (Pulsewave: 146 Arcwave: 292)
Kentari Partisan Residuum T12 with broken auto-attack (Its using only primary attack)
https://prnt.sc/r7eaj9
DPS: 152 (PlasmaRes.: 164)
KPR with disabled auto-attack and without anything else (no kit, no skill, no buff etc. just like all other tests)
DPS: 238 (PlasmaRes: 77 ResidumCatalytic: 498)
Sonic Antiproton Assault Minigun Mk12
https://prnt.sc/r7enw3
DPS: 154 (Burst: 149 Sweep: 170)
Corfield Mining Plasma Cutter Mk12
https://prnt.sc/r7gc8q
DPS: 136 (Low: 150 High: 61)
Still mk6 has better results than others even with the log reader. Probably that 45m EC TPA mk15 on the exchange market with 430 ish ingame DPS is better than any other fully upgraded mk15. But i don't have enough EC to buy it and test it... yet...
I never really seem to have issues with the corfield and auto-attack. I only enable auto-attack for the primary fire though.
Problem with pulsewaves is they have falloff.
Should be able to. I really only use the secondary on bosses and stuff (cause autotargeting can be a bit dumb with the secondary). My usual ground loadout for my main is the chroniton split beam rifle (not because the weapon is particuarly good, mind), and the Assault Squad Phaser (now removed due to being an exact copy of the lobi Discovery rifle).
