Tour the Galaxy advice pls
Hi,

When I first played STOL the Tour the Galaxy had you trying to visit every sector for EC. Now I'm back and its changed to have you visit specified systems.

Anyone got any tips as on:

Useful ship/captain traits.
If there is a route that's better/quicker than others. ( Generally start in Sol go down and then across through Kilgon Ter. but expect there's a better way.).

And...

Kinda anything else that would help?

My main is a L65 Romulan in a T5 ship with 100% reduction in slip-stream charge. I tried with the speed (20%) but that didn't appear to help, neither did the Transwarp reduction.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR;
1) Ship with 60 second slipstream, any items that reduce slipstream cooldown
2) Impulse engine that goes past warp 10, for example Maco from Omega Reputation (asynchronous warp)
3) Core from Gamma reputation for massive slipstream speed boost

Trait wise, really nothing there. Skill wise there is a first optional choice on the science track for 25% sector speed increase.

Something others can give you: diplomatic immunity from federation aligned and/or raiding from KDF aligned allthough not necessary for completing within time limit, but for ludicrous speed (80+ slipstream) why not.

Any of the Miracle Worker ships should do the job - their slipstream drives have a two-minute active time and only a thirty-second recharge. Vellari's suggestions about the impulse engine and core are spot on, too.

I always keep one miracle worker ship out of dry dock and heaped with travel boosting gear for events that require sector travel.. though with the removal of the EC cost on mission transwarp, that has become less of a thing lately.

They are 90 seconds, not 2 minutes. Burn is 90, cooldown is 30, thus 2 minutes total.

Well since you asking that question... I suggest looking at this

https://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/67t80h/tour_the_galaxy_map_for_poorly_equipped/

work your way up to the more advanced routes as you get better equipment for your ship and are able to get a better time.. it's not just ship gear that you'll need btw... Doffs are also an important factor when you add in certain doffs with certain passives you get when they are set in your 6 active Doff slots..

Also you don't ignore the 14 named sector nebulas btw, each other can give out a different Doff with the passives players what a doff to have when set as an active doff...

Yes, the maximum slipstream time is 90 seconds not 120 seconds. The cooldown is also, realistically, 2 minutes not 30 seconds due to the Cyclic drive being bugged... the only time you get the reduced (30 second) cooldown is if you run it for the full 90 seconds... if you stop it prematurely (such as by zoning or entering a system) the base CD is 2 minutes.

Around the first year that STO went F2P, I had a special slipstream drive that was a skill and thus worked on any ship. It was 2 minutes burn and could be turned on/off, thus saving the time. It also had some crazy bonuses. I got it in an original Atari special package. I only played about a week after the game's release, so it sat in my inventory until I started again at the F2P introduction.

When I returned, I couldn't recall what the item was because it couldn't be opened until I had reached level 40. It had a Star Trek insignia for its icon. I wrote tech support and provided screenshots of it and was told that it was a bugged item and I should just delete it. I didn't because I knew it was a special item but didn't know exactly what. When I hit 40, the item opened and it was the slipstream drive skill.

Sometime during a patch, they removed it from my account and never compensated me for an item that I had paid real money for.

Just some history for you!

Hey, I think that new Corvette event ship has 30-second Slipstream cooldown.

Perhaps they did this to prevent doing Tour the Galaxy and cleaning up.

Not really, (like in my original video post) all you need is 60 second slip (many many ships), some impulse engine that goes past warp 10 (again many many choices) and the Gamma reputation core...with that it takes about 12 minutes to do the entire tour (3 minutes to spare).

I've managed to do as you said and even Warp fast to the Alpha Quad to scoop up a few more on the tour. I was only one short one try for getting BOTH done ;)

Yup, but meant you can do both quadrants in 12 minutes with said setup.

Is that mission still viable to make EC? Were the payouts increased? Seems like, with the EC inflation in the game, it wouldn't be as lucrative.

What is the payout for completing the entire course?

How about the old days when I would make money buying Fire At Will I from an NPC for 250 and selling on Exchange for 80,000 :)

I fell the one system short once out of both quadrants. I think the payout was like very close to 1 mil EC. It's been awhile so I forget.

It's 925.000 EC for the entire tour (plus the xp for doffs). Which if you can do it is not bad for sub 15 minutes of work per day.

There's quite a few boff skills that can be bought and sold in this matter; particularly if they don't appear frequently on boffs. You might not get 80k for FAW1 now, not checked recently.
