No sound in STO
Running on Windows 10. STO's audio is set to my main default speakers. All files updated. Audio drivers are all updated. Audio works fine for my PC in general, but STO has zero sound.

Any tips?

Always reboot your computer if you have a problem like that. Then check the sound setting inside STO, there might be a Mute or some thing else you set by accident. Try running the command Dxdiag at the search line to run the Directx diag tool = check for errors.

Is your main audio set to "not headphones"

I always forget to switch it back after using Occulus...

I realize that I'm late to respond, but I've seen the application become muted for no apparent reason. I think there might be a hotkey or combo to do this in the game somewhere, but I'm not sure. I came across this while trying to figure out why it happens.

If this is the problem you're having, here's the solution:

Launch STO
alt+tab out of the game
Right click on the sound icon in your system tray
Select open volume mixer
Click the speaker icon under Star Trek Online (if it has a red circles+slash)

I found the actual solution, its harsh but it works! your gonna have to leave any fleets you've joined.

Don't do what this idiot suggests.

The short-term solution is to change sound settings. There is a checkbox in windows settings for "microphone" that says "allow apps to access my microphone" that needs to be turned off.

Yes check the IN GAME sound settings too. Last time I got a new monitor, the game decided to make it the default audio output device, despite the fact that I did not have it set up for that in the Windows settings, and (this is the reason I didn't)... the monitor does not have built in speakers.

So I had no sound because it was trying to output it to a video-only device.

Open in-game options and disable voice-chat.
Of course, make sure your sound settings point to the correct headphone.

There seems to be an issue with bluetooth headset's mic.
