[Solved] Download STO at work and copy to home PC
Hi, I just downloaded STO at work. Installed ARC Software and then the game launcher installed the game in c:\programmfiles\STO.
Can I copy the STO Folder and paste it on my home PC? What about the ARC Software or Steam Integration.?
I just want to play it at home, but my internet connection is crappy.

if you have terrible internet connection at home, you will not be able to play STO at home. Updates are frequent. Copying the directory might work to keep your home machine patched. But there are more downloading while you are playing STO. Try it, but i think you will have more problems than it is worth.

u can turn patch on demand OFF ib the launcher and NO dl while playing

u can just copy the game folder without using steam OR arc and play if u loaded 100% with patch on demand turned off

not true

u can DL from arc or steam

copy the folder and start/paly without having arc or steam on ur home PC

just start the launcher or game.exe from the folder

(it will even patch further if needed if u choose the launcher

"
But if you downloaded it from arc probably you will need to do some tweaks to make the game to run at your home, even if you copy it. Because it will be pointing to the arc launche"

Probably would have been much simpler had OP used the independent launcher instead of Arc.

Starting the launcher should work irrelevant of where you downloaded it, indeed.

Launching the gameclient directly never works for me, for some odd reason. There's obviously support for logging in directly to the client though.

Ok, finished work, visited friends, bought a good bottle of wine and went home to be Jean Luc :-)

- Copied the STO Folder to my PC (I did NOT install ARC)
- Started "Star Trek Online.exe" in main folder (there is NO file named Launcher or similar anywhere)
- Login screen from Perfect world opens - Serverstatus is OFFLINE
- I login and it works, then I can click "Play"
- Game loads and a window shows up "account verification". An email has been send to you
- no email arrives
- after 5 minutes "timeout connection to account server"

Maybe the servers are down, but I think it's a problem with my workaround.

Edit:
- installed arc software
- startet installation in a new folder
- stopped installation and copied the 12 GB into this folder
- startet arc, clicked play
- no download, game starts, great :-)
- server is still OFFLINE, account verification, timeout (same as above)

The Cryptic Account Guard can be derpy at times.

Check your connection if you're having trouble staying connected. Your internet connection might not be good enough after all.

Next morning: Serverstatus is online, everything works :-)

I removed Arc and just started "Star Trek Online.exe" from the copied folder. Works.
So you just have to copy the game folder.

Thank you all for your help :-)

you can do this with ALL downloadable games...not just on steam. Origin too. Any big games which you don't have access to fiber and are like me and run your STO off your cell phone.

Only time a lot of folk use arc is when they get a code for a freebie such as the steelseries linked scorpion fighter that I think still has codes up for grabs.
