Tips on finding a good active fleet.
I've played a lot, but haven't joined a fleet yet. Is there a way to see if the fleet you've been invited to, or joining is active? Meaning lots of players still playing?

Additionally, is it better to join a fully formed fleet, or to start out with a newbie one?

Thanks for the advice

Check the roster when you join a fleet, see how long it's been since people were online. Watch to see if projects are slotted regularly and how quickly they fill up. Talk to people to find out who's a regular player and see if they have a fleet you can join.

If you join a fleet and find out it's one of those that thrive on drama and bickering or if they're not active enough, or in another timezone, just leave and find a new one, plenty of fleets out there though most of them are basically dead.

Depends what you want from your fleet, a fleet that's already finished has all the gear ready to be purchased but often there's not enough projects running for you to earn any creds to buy gear with, on the flip side a new fleet is easy to earn credits in, but you can't buy the good stuff. As long as you have the cash, provisions and the rank to use them in your own fleet you can easily get invites to completed fleet holding to go shopping

I find it easiest to have my own fleets but it takes alot of resources

Fleets are another grind fest leading no where, which is why most are dead and empty of life. Its terribly boring in the long run to achieve so much and have it mean so little.

To buy from the fleet stores you need fleet credits. If you join a fleet that is not at max level you will also have more opportunities to donate to the projects. Fleets go dead when the members stop recruiting. If you join a fleet with the intent to do some recruiting yourself then you will never be in an inactive fleet again.

Some of the first things I'd check for is that at least some of the fleet banks are usable to new recruits, if the dil in projects are being filled and that you're able to buy from stores within a reasonable amount of donating or preferably immediately. When a fleet admin is using the fleet as his personal storage or is not able to fill out dil requests on his own it's a red flag that might mean someone wants you to use all your resources to build 'their' fleet.
