Rom Plasma still viable?
I'm coming back after a few years of not playing and I've read a few times that Romulan Plasma beams have been nerfed a few times, are they still decent or has everything I've done up to now been a waste of time and I should try and find a new damage type?

I'm currently running an Arbiter with the Experimental RomPlas BA, 6 regular RomPlas BAs, and the Kinetic Omni. But I'm also experimenting with DBBs now that I have the Arbiter, since I'm slowly working on getting more Omni's for the back 3. I'm also running a lot of Borg and Fleet tech. So far my only XIV's are the Experimental and the Kinetic Omni so I don't think I'd be throwing away anything but Dilithium and Fleet Marks if I swapped out of RomPlas.

They are fine, but there are better options. If I would go for a plasma build, I would propably go with corrosive plasma[sto.gamepedia.com] over Rom plasma.

If the damage type is not a concern, I would either go with antiproton/disruptor with Pen mod or with coalition disruptors[sto.gamepedia.com].

I would then add either the crystalline energy torp[sto.gamepedia.com] to the antiproton build or the entire Entoiled Technology set[sto.gamepedia.com] to the disruptor build. These energy torps are boosted by the same tac energy consoles that also boost the beam banks.

There was recently a new re-engineering feature introduced to STO that allows you to reroll mods on most weapons. So it is comparatively cheap to get some coalition disruptors or corrosive plasma beam banks from the exchange and reroll them to CrtD or Dmg.

Any single energy type is viable. Including plasma. In any form. Now if you are looking for a good proc, then forget about plasma completely in all its variants. Now, if you know how to play and how the game works, you should not be worried about if romulan plasma is viable or not. Every single energy type is.

Well, thanks guys, I really was just making sure RomPlas hadn't been nerfed into the ground or something so I'd have to start over. Since it hasn't, I can safely continue working on my previous gear.

Corrosive are probably the best ones.. lol. Again, base damage is basically the same. It only goes down or up by probably 1-2% of the total damage.
so it would be cool 4 u to get 2% less momey in ur job? but getting a cookie each day u attend

basicly the same huh?

I was listening to Street Fighter II music the other day and came to a conclusion:

Vega's stage has the best song.

And procs are the meat and potatoes, damage is the green peas.

It would be unlikely to impact your lifestyle, which is ultimately the point here. Unless you're barely doing enough damage to kill your targets and win your battles, the difference in weapon types is unlikely to have a pragmatic effect on your play.

For people who want to do extensive log analysis and want to have absolutely optimal numbers... everything matters... but for normal players who want to spend their time blowing up borg cubes or whatever else, the small incremental improvements that come with absolute min/maxing are likely to be irrelevant.

If you like the colour of an energy weapon that's way more important than the wuss-ass proc.

Exactly. There is a moment when you have so much experience that, its completely stupid to be worried about if a weapon deals 0,001% more damage or not.

Things like visuals, and actually having FUN playing are far more important. For smart players, at least. Unfortunately we dont have too many playing this game.

Yup rofl. I always loved the most Vega's stage. But also Ryu's (or it was Ken's?) cant even remember. I did sto playing street fighter i think about when they released the IV. Sadly its not a fighting engine since a long time ago, just a push buttons game with incredible unbalanced characters. You cant find good fighting games nowadays, unfortunately not anymore since a long long long time ago.

Injustice 2 was... Ok.

I like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and Dead or Alive 2. Soul Calibur is occasionally alright.

Yupp. Rainbow disruptors for the not-really-that-easy-but-it-still-works win!
