If I unlock a ship with zen, is it unlocked for my entire account? (Modernize payment system?)

Hi!

I was wondering that lately. I never really purchased anything, but like League of Legends, I think the game is worth at least 20$, so I am planning on spending 20$ as if I bought the game. Is it like Guild Wars where when you buy something it is unlocked for your account? Or is it just for the character? If it is the later, this sucks and they should modernize their payment system a little.

(if that is the case) It would be nice to have an unlock system for your entire account. That way, I would be encouraged to buy many things. I would feel the complete opposite if what I buy is restricted to one character... in fact, I might not even spend a dime on the game if that is the case.

I would really like it that when I buy something with real money, it becomes unlocked for all new and old characters alike (that are in the same timeline of course).

yes its unlocked for all your toons that's in the appropriate faction or is allied with fed/kdf

Yes and no

If its ship you need to check if its faction specific or global , preferably for your first ship id sugest ask yourself what faction you will play the most or if things align buy cross faction ship if you like the look

For officers/cosmetics/some other things

They can be unlocked for faction , account or just your character , may be tradable or not

Be sure to alweys read description of said items

One thing if I may.... If you are just starting, play a bit to find out what you like... discover your play style.... then consider upgrading to a C-Store ship. This way you won't buy a Carrier ship only to learn you love pilot ships ;)

What I mean is if I play a new character from scratch with a friend will I see the ships that I have unlocked with my other characters if I happen to get into the same faction or take the same choices?

I have been around for a while, but never upped a character beyong 30th level I think.

If the ship comes from the ZEN store, or is earned from one of the game's events, then yes... it is account-wide and will be available to new characters in future. All people are trying to say is that ships that are federation-only will be account unlocked, but won't be available to KDF characters you make.

Lockbox/Promobox ships are not account-unlocked and will not be available to other characters.

Thanks. I'll probably spend a bit of money to thanks the guys at STO for keeping it alive so long and updating it regularly. I hope it stays up for long. It's the only MMO that I can tolerate, the dozens of others that I have tried are trash and made on the same model.

the most cost effective cash shop ships are the vanguard jem hadar, as WHEN you have tier 6 mastery'd them on your jem hadar, they are unlocked accross your account.

and the CROSS FACTION TEMPORAL ships, it has a big dreadnought, a little raider, and a science ship in it. they look nothing like any factions ships, and are usable by any of your characters

also, NEVER break a pack, merely grind dilithium until you can buy the full pack instead
