try to stay away from tfos for a while. they lag like crazy. i could not even move or shot for 2 min.
it has got worse for a while. i got 50 to 79 mbps. on my pc. it should run almost perfectly. just because i have a 6 year old computer does not mean it have to act like this.

Unlikely to be a problem with your system itself, or even your internet connection. It's something between you and the servers. Have you tried the proxy setting in launcher (US or EU)?
If your conection loses a lot packets along the way this may be a problem

Sadly this is not easy task to do becouse not only you have to determine if there is packet loss , but "packet loss on specific thing your trying to conect" and that is STO servers

and even tests can be inconsistant

https://packetlosstest.com

i used this 5 times , 3 times i had 0 , once 10% and last 16% loss

to determine real packet loss you would have to use command promnts and ping STO main server IP who im not sure if public IP of its avalible and see packet loss

Reason for this is conection is like water who travels who pipes and on some , some can be lost along way

There was period of time after one of cables who was damaged in storm(underwater conection to america) and could not play with few friends as conection was going by masive detour with a lot packet loss

best you can do is call your ISP and ask them about your problem if it presists more then in 1 game/elsewhere

What i want to know is where the heck is the server that I connent to is?

Supposedly in the US, but given how atrociously bad the connection is at the times, a developing region somewhere in Africa, or possibly rural Germany, seems more likely.

that was weird, finally got on. what the heck happened? still lags like crazy though. when their is alot of ships on my screen, the game lags. i guess i am stuck with it til cryptic fixes it.

Looking at the STO Reddit, seems like the account server was acting up. It sometimes does that.

Massive problems speceifically when there's a lot of ships on your screen may be a rendering issue, though. Might be worth trying to reduce graphics settings a little.

read this link for a server to ping, it goes into network checking.

- Many problems with the game stem from poor or faulty Network connection between your computer and the game servers. Read the sticky thread on the official forum, "Read this before Posting to STO Arcgames forum."
