Searching for a "normal" type-2 phaser, circa 24c
Quite awhile back, I remember that I unlocked an old school TNG era type 3 phaser rifle by playing through the mission that showcased Levar Burton for the very first time. I love it. Truly.

But honestly, I'm in love with all things from the TNG era, and I try to make my crew as canon to that timeline as possible. That being said, are there any type-2 "dust busters" in the game that don't have those wacky, ugly, holographic displays hovering over them? You know, like the standard type-2's from the show?

I know the vendors sell "standard issue," but that's really not the same. Plus, they're obviously terrible. I'm on the lookout for a "retrofit" version, like they did for LaForge's type-3. If it doesn't exist, are there any possible crafting/upgrading solutions?

Are you talking about this OP as ♥♥♥♥♥ Type 2 phaser?

Of which, how the hell it can deal that much damage is beyond me, but it's what i give my away team Boffs.. They can take down a mid sized Dino-Bot from the Voth contested Ground playground without my help

There is also the newer looking Assault Phasers from the Undiscovered weapon boxes, but they don't hit as hard as the old Type 2's

No no. I'm talking about standard, Star Trek: The Next Generation type-2 phasers. Also known as "dust busters."

In Star Trek Online, the closest I've seen are called "stun pistols." But any kind of bonus on them gives them this ugly, non-canon 25c era holo display. I'm trying to go for a TNG purist theme for my crew.

In STO, when they first brought in LeVar Burton to reprise his La Forge role, there was a mission arc that awarded you his TNG era type-3 phaser rifle. I already have that, and I love it. But I would really prefer to just have the standard TNG era hand phaser.

In TNG, there were a total of three models: Type-1, which looked similar to the type-1's used in TOS, the type-2 "dust buster" which was standard throughout the majority of the show (and were extremely different from the TOS type-2's, in that they were more like "wands" instead of pistols), and the type-3 rifle shown in later seasons.

The type-3 that you get from La Forge is a really neat retrofit model with some nice buffs, and it has the exact same look and sound effects from the show. What I want is a retrofit type-2 from that era, instead of a rifle. Or at least something visually identical that I can upgrade, without the holo-junk visuals.

Here's what I'm looking for. But I want a non-common (non-"white") version. Does one exist without the hologram effects?

Other then the rifle you could get from the mission "Beyond the Nexus" that modeled version oddly isn't i the game... Closest thing with that look would be the type 1 from mission "Past Imperfect" or from the Fleet holding asset K-13

If you craft the Phaser pistol, Stun or Wide beam, you get the dust buster type model with the blue holographic effect on the top front. The compression pistol is a totally different model.

Right, which is exactly what I don't want. See above.

If you want a dustbuster, you're out of luck:

(That's the dustbuster model) (Example from Geek.com)

If you want a Type II (season 3+ TNG):

I am pretty sure they're in game. I remember seeing them many many years ago, I'd have to log in to check to be sure. (And they're doing shard maint. right now) Doing a hunt online I am not seeing them though :(

I might be remembering that stinky version with the blue overlay :(

I did find this:

I swear I have/had the type II (not dustbuster, not TOS). I also remember having a cricket phaser though, and I can't find that one online either...

I think I've had too much raktajino

(Edit)I assume this is the one you already have.

Yup, exactly, the type-3 I already have. It's the type-2 I'm looking for.

In STO, it seems that the closest thing to the type-2 from TNG is the "standard issue" (white common) that you can replicate for free. But once you upgrade it even slightly to make it less worthless, it automatically gets the wacky Cryptic hologram effects.

In any event, thanks for looking. :-)

I’ve been dying for this, too! It still baffles me that they haven’t got them in game.
