If you're an Engineer and do the Lukari Rep you can get a nice shield and heal drone.

You are taking about a Science captain, right? Most of these ideas will also make your science damage better also. Well in ground skills, you should take all the Kit skills. Get the best healling kit modules you can get. Get a good Kit frame that has kit performance bonuses and kit readiness. Set some traits that inprove your kit performance and healing skills. Put Doffs in active ground that have modifiers for your healing skills. Take Temporal Operative as your Primary specialization. That is about all that you can do to improve Ground Healing skills in STO. Any room you have left, put into damage causing stuff. A lot of this can be changed quickly to improve science damage and ground damage.

My favorite ground science damage skills are: Chronometric Diffusion, Entropic Contagion, Exothermic Induction field, Anti-Time Entanglement Singularity, Degeneration.

Doffs are little dudes who give you slight bonus in a certain thing. You can only use 5 (6 if you are in a pimp fleet and you save up) in ground and space (5 ground, 5 space) bonuses.
Boffs are your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who follow you around in your single player story missions and who are your abilities in space combat.
