How many people play STO?

Does anyone know the exact numbers? On the steam charts, it shows only a 2007 player peak, but I have no idea if that's just based off of the amount of players playing through steam. Aka downloading sto from steam like I did.
And I just came back from a 5 month break, and everything seems so quiet. The Borg pve queues are empty, space dock is empty and only me and another person was on the earth space dock chat. Is this normal for STO now?

I see the game pretty active during EU hours, mostly during the day and night. The Q's are empty, my best guess is that people got sick of them. Battlezones do have players in them no matter where I go, so there's always action there. I noticed a lot of people prefer to be quiet and not say anything in the chat, which is okay.
Not sure how many people play in total, but there is also Arc, so some people play from there.

Many players have STO not from Steam. The Kobali and Voth warzones are busy enough. Yeah i guess the chatty kathy players have got tired of playing and moved on.

Hopefully The Oriville is a hit (my money says it is) and that brings new wave of players to game.
