Star Trek Online
TOS Bridge Officers
Playing a TOS character on a TOS starship but because I didn't load up on Bridge officers in the past, I'm stuck with "modern" Bridge Officers that just don't fit with the theme, I've tried starting a new character, buying boffs with that one then mailing them to my main character but that doesn't work because they're bound to character, and the officers you can get from the K-13 fleet holding cost 160,000 fleet marks and 34000 dil EACH. Surely the game wouldn't be petty enough to deny me the chance to get TOS bridge officers without spending years grinding for them? Anyone know a way around this?

I should also say I don't really give much of a toss about rarity and usefulness in boffs, i'll take thematic over optimal any day. So it doens't matter if the boffs are useless so long as they're TOS federation.
Last time I rolled a TOS character - about two months after the expansion was released - you couldn't get TOS gear, kits, boffs, weapons, etc outside of the starting arc.

So you had to buy them in advance, and stick them in storage, to use as you're levelling that character.

I don't think they've changed that.
You can buy Andorian, Tellarite, Vulcan, and Human Boffs on the exchange...

I can look past the style of Enterprise flash they have and use the Uniform Editor to blend them in.
Not really seeing what the issue is here.

You can make any bridge officer wear TOS-style uniforms, provided you have unlocked those of course (500 Zen I believe). Their animations (tricorder, transporter effects, etc) should all be the same, because those are tied to your main characters' faction.

Really, the only difference I can think of is their icon in the BOFF list. That and maybe traits, btu ground combat is so simple, they might as well not matter.
Weapons, (torpedos for example) from the 23rd century comes with unique FX and SFX. Same with 23rd century Boffs; not that their skills are anything spectaular, but they use unique FX and SFX appropriate for the era.

So I can see why one would want them from a completionist standpoint or lore reason.

Which is why when I rolled my 23c Captain, I made sure to buy things up to XI and Boffs from the 23c ESD and put it in the bank for future use.
You can also buy 23c manuals from your k-13.
No, the only way to get TOS bridge officers is through the K-13 starbase or the TOS holographic bridge crew pack.
You can also by 23c gear through the k-13 should you have leveled the fleet project high enough
Actually I've not just started playing, i have almost 400 hours in game. It's just I managed to get my hands on a T6 Connie with this one character, and didn't realise I couldn't get TOS Boffs outside the start area. It's a shame but yeah, I get pedantic about this stuff and it annoys me when F2P games make it such a runaround for some things. Like the Connie for example, I spent far more money than is sensible getting EC to buy it on the exchange via player auctions, so not only have I payed a stupid amount of money but Cryptic don't get any of it because they were banking on me pouring even more money than I ended up spending into trying to get it from R&D packs. If they were just happy to get some money for a buy-it-and-use-it T6 Connie (and trust me, if you could just buy it then they'd get a lot more than some money) rather then trying to get ALL of the money, then they would have actually gotten money from me, rather than a third party with no connection.
Just let me buy the stupid Boffs dammit, it's not that much to ask.
Thanks for the help though guys
Cheapest way to get the boffs would be to customise the uniforms of the correct races. Does require you having the uniforms though.

Ground weapons need a fleet with t1 engineering unlocked on K-13, t2 for space weapons.

Boff manuals from the AoY tutorial are bound and limited to the lower grades so you'd need the t3 engineering unlocked. This is also the level for buying boffs.

There is a phaser rifle from the dividian section of the klingon story arc, and I have had a few white tos phaser pistols drop during those trips to the past.

Usefulness depends if you are a dps nut or not.

And of course (to give nem some rant food) the very expensive way is to wait for the correct promotio,n buy about £100 or so worth of zen and get the TOS crew as holographic boffs.

400 hours in this game is NOTHING. You are still a big newbie, sorry. Also you implied that you are not a newbie, and you still did the stupidity of using real money in this game and gamble in the R&D packs. Please, dont make me laugh, you are a total newbie.
Ok wow, sorry hardman didn't realise you were such a badass. Years spent playing an MMO, so impressive. Maybe don't be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it next time.
