Energy Credits <-> Dilithium?
Is there any conversion at all?
Is there a way to value Dilithium?

I dont know exactly what you mean with a way to value Dilithium...

What are the obvious reasons? I am missing something here. Sorry.

About a way to "value Dilithium":
If I had the choice to do a mission which gives me one ore or one which gives me one Energy Credit, which should I do?

dill is worth about 200 ec..

No, say a key was worth 5 mil EC, and a single zen is 200 dil/zen.

Since a key costs 125 zen, that's about 40,000 EC per zen.

If you divide that by 200 dil per zen, then 200 EC for 1 Dilithium comes out as the answer.

Edit: obviously my math is generalized, but the logic is sound.

Meh, I was just doing the math in and of itself. Yeah, you can't directly trade dilithium for EC (and vice versa) because it's impossible to do in-game, but via the dil exchange a single dilithium is only worth about 200 EC. I don't know updated numbers on keys and the current dilex rate, but the value of dilithium in EC should be

(Price of key on exchange) / (cost of key in zen in the C-store)(current dilithium-zen exchange rate).

Honestly, considering the fact that dil's only worth comes from it being exchangeable for the IRL money currency, it's not too hard to see that it has little to nil value.

Yeah, but it's only calculable value comes from the exchange. And honestly if you're spending dil on something, then you aren't spending on the next best thing.

Dilithium is at the value of the current market exchange rate. If the market values 25 zen for 8,000 dilithium then id put the rate at (in my eyes, this isn't official or nothin') 5,000,000 every 5 days per character fully refining and exchanging on the market.

DILITHIUM is the MOST PRIZED RESOURCE. It's used in EVERYTHING and can be converted to ANYTHING. The only way to get more dilithium is have more characters refining per day or real life money. EC is common and can be had from almost anything, do not over value it. Dilithium is the only currency that can't be obtained reliably and is the only currency that feeds upgrading gear which is the cornerstone of the "power creep." Hoard dilithium, spend EC.

Sure, EC can get you rare ships and epic gear but only if you want to be a basic ♥♥♥♥♥. The good ♥♥♥♥ comes from zen! Or expert use of dilithium to make epic gear to sell for hoards of EC!
