Launcher issue: slow downloading?

Looking to start playing STO. I have 100mbps internet yet the launcher downloads at a measly rate. In 10 minutes it downloaded less than 150mb.

Is this normal? is there a fix? Is there a way to force the download from another site/server?

I have to point out, just because you have 100mbps download, doesen't mean the line between you and the server all runs that fast, all it takes is one slow ISP in the middle to stomp your download speeds.

I do feel your pain, paying for 130+ mbps here, and maybe get 15-20 because of the crappy American ISP's along the border.

Also, to answer your question, the only other server is the asian server, and I don't recommend it (if it's even still running)

Your best bet is to trace your connection and see if you can find the trouble ISP and get yours to route you around it if they can, if you really can't stand the wait.

Good point. I am aware of those technical limitations but it (sort of) surprises me that a big MMO like STO doesn't have better servers to meet the demands.

In the meantime I guess I'll just leave it running when I'm afk and hope it finishes before I come back

Years later and it's still an issue. I think dial up was faster.
