Save up zen with lifetime sub and dilithium and then buy keys during sales. Selling them on the exchange makes me a nice bit of EC. Lots of gambling addicts out there. ^_^

There are tons of people who buy keys on the exchange. If you keep an eye on prices and have a bit of startup capital, you can make a crapload of money by playing the margins.

I got lifetime back when the game when you had to pay a monthy thing. Now I geting paid to play thier game though its only 5 usd per month.

I tend to buy zen every few months, sell half for dilithium, the other half for master keys and then sell them, they tend to sell within like 5 seconds of being placed...depending on the time of the day i post them of course.

The low chance does dissuade people, I dropped $100 and bought 100 keys, didn't get one ship (not even those blue ones). But a year or so later, I once got the Undine Nictor and the Jem'hadar Heavy Escort ships back to back. It was the best Friday the 13th of my life. Sometimes you do get lucky, but never open a lockbox hoping for a ship. You'll just be disappointed. Maybe even $100 disappointed.
