Sto security issue
somehow someone in sto is able to disconnect my internet while i'm playing, i think this is a flaw in the games security, this is unacceptable and needs to be fixed immediately, an investigation is currently underway to this breach of my privacy and services.

How do you know it's someone in STO?

Or you just have a weird firewall program or some access restrictions. If anything this is STO not having ENOUGH permission, and your firewall blocks off access to the internet when it detects STO trying to connect.

It has nothing at all to do with "security". Any program you download has access to your wi-fi no matter what.

Also if it's "someone", then you probably really annoyed someone in-game and you were gullible enough to click a link and they got your IP, and you got booted. I know for a fact you can't obtain IPs through STO directly, so that means you had to click a link.

Either through booting or by your firewall or programs, I guarantee the problem is not with STO.

Dude.. there are a million of thigns that could cause your internet connection to saturate, block, reset, etc.

For the look of it, it looks like your router is over receiving too many packets and it is creating a bottleneck, so its like if you lose the connection with everything until you reset the router. It happens. But i dont have clear if your problem is that yor router turns off (something that honestly i find it hard to believe), or resets, or we really dont know what you talking about. Or you just get drop of the game?

Also, i assume you are not playing with wifi? because of course, that could be the cause of disconnections. To play ANY videogame online, you should use a direct cable connection. Wireless connections are strongly not recommended for obvious reasons.

He said "someone" was shutting off his internet. As in there was someone probably in game saying, "I'm gonna boot you".

Also nowadays wi-fi is fine if it's powerful enough. If you use something like the Asus powerhouses, those can be just as strong as a direct connection, and would only make a difference when you're pulling every last bit of internet.

yeah a big gorn troll said ha ha bye bye then i got disconnected, and no i didn't click a link from anyone, also im using a direct connection not wifi, whatever this is, resets my stupid cable modem, not my router. This is why it feels like a security breach to me. My ISP is investigating it, hopefuly i hear from them today.

And here you are, trying to disagree with anything i write. Dude, go to a doctor, seriously.

Wifi powerful enough??? dude, what are you , 6??? its not about power... seriously, i really dont have the guts to answer you. It doesnt matter how powerful it is. WIFI is terrible for playing online videogames , period. It was terrible 10 years ago, it will be terrible 20 years from now. Please, stop saying stupdidites one after another. You are embarrasing yourself, and now, im pretty sure this is the last time i respond you. You must be the most ignorant fellow in these forums.

By powerful I mean how good your router is. And no, it's not always worse. I use wi-fi and can run circles around someone with a slower cable connection. It just comes down to your router. Mine was the price of a decent non-gaming laptop in itself, the ROG Rapture.

You're giving info that's 10 years old. What you said would be true if this was 1985 when the first router was invented...lol.

Nobody needs a firewall or even an antivirus. Just common sense and intellect to know the sites you dont need to go and just being careful where you surf the web. As simple as that. And firewalls and antiviruses slow donw the traffic a lot, so they are not recommended when playing online videogames.

But dont even bother with shakeandblake, he is probably the most stupid guy ive ever seen around these forums lol and everything he writes is compleley nonsense.

Also, you disregarded his question all in itself. I only touched on the firewall and program stuff as a possibility. His real issue was "someone" booted him, and you didn't help once in that aspect. Did they even have booting back in your day, or is this another subject you're 10 years behind on, old man?
