How to have multiple fake desktop screens
Multiple fake desktop screens are useful in VHT on the following situations:
- if you have only one 1080p monitor connected to the main GPU and you want to have a 4K virtual monitor in desktop mirror mode (for gaming or to browse the internet) but is too expensive to have a real one or you don't have enough room for it.

- you have only one real monitor connected to the main GPU but you want to have a surround panoramic two, three or four virtual desktops in desktop mirror mode but you don't want to buy three 4K real monitors because they are expensive or you don't have enough room.

Recommended setups for:
a) panoramic ultrawide gaming: one 1080p real display and one or two 1080p fake display(s) then use this guide https://steamcommunity.com/app/989060/discussions/0/2963890812396808495/

b) 4K gaming: one 1080p real display and one 4k@60fps fake display (set as default and used by game).

c) work: one 1080p/4K real display and one, two or three 4K fake display(s).

Before Windows 10 it was possible for developers to create a fake desktop screens from app, but with Windows 10 is not possible.

Now there is only one way to do fake desktop screens.

For example If you have a graphics card with two HDMI ports and two DP ports and you have a real monitor connected to one HDMI port and you want to have four virtual desktop screens, then you need to buy three Dummy Display plugs: one for HDMI port and two for DP ports.
After you plug-in all three Dummy Display plugs you will have four displays desktops and because VHT can show all these desktops (fake or real) you will see four virtual desktop screens even if you have only one real monitor connected.

Dummy Display plugs are made for VGA, HDMI and DP ports and can simulate up to a 3840x2160@60Hz fake monitor.
They cost around $10 each and you can find them by searching “Headless Ghost Display Emulator for PC” or “Dummy Display plug“.

You can also use those cheap portable monitors $20-40 bucks and set custom resolutions on them from Nvidia control panel. Just played Death Stranding with cheap 1080p monitor but set it to 21:9 120hz. Amazing in VR. It's nice having extra displays for a few bucks more when not using VR as well.

Just wanna check. The 3 extra displays added by WMR Headsets like the G2. Any way to use them? I know the latest update just made them disappear, but is there any way to use those instead of purchasing those Dummy Display Plugs?

These 3 extra displays added by WMR Headset are used only by WMR.
They are visible to VR apps and in Windows probably because of a bug from WMR driver.
You can't use them as a fake displays.

The only way around is to buy those dummy display plugs or the suggestions from @Zatoichi
