What you can do with the VHT's 'desktop mirror' mode.
When turned on, the VHT's 'desktop mirror' mode will do the following things:
- will mirror/show your real PC desktop screens as virtual screens with a low input lag
- will mirror your Windows default audio device channels output (no need to have real speakers connected to your PC) as virtual speakers

So, if you have two displays connected to your PC and a 5.1 virtual or a real hardware audio card without any real 5.1 speakers system connected, then VHT will create two virtual screens and a virtual 5.1 audio speakers system.

This virtual 5.1 audio speakers system is not a graphical 3D model but each channel output will be simulated as individual virtual speaker (a 3D audio source object) which will make you feel/perceive that the sound is generated by a real 5.1 audio speakers system .

List of things you can do with ‘desktop mirror' mode:

- You can watch videos or movies from your favorite media-services provider using your preferred web browser.

- You can listen music from your favorite online audio distribution platforms or music sharing websites using your preferred web browser.

- You can play a non-VR game with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.
(if you play a FPS game you will hear sounds coming from all directions, an advantage on the battlefield)

- You can play a non-VR game in stereoscopic mode (Side-by-Side or interlaced) if the game support it. (the game character from the game will be really visible as 3D model not a 2D projection)

Audio from movies, music or games will not be a “head-locked” stereo like when you connect your headphone to your PC’s front panel stereo audio out jack, but a true 3D spatial audio (a real time rendered binaural) creating a better sound stage than a “head-locked” stereo.

Hi,
I don't know why, but I want to try out Counter Strike in VR (2d mode). But before I do it, I just want to check to make sure that this is not gonna cause issues with their anti cheat system (VAC) ?

VHT is just a simple application that display what is on your monitor to a big virtual screen in virtual space and will mirror your audio system in VR as virtual speakers, it is not designed to gain any unfair advantage.

VHT was not tested per se to see if it will trigger any Anti-Cheat protection.
VHT is used by users and me to play non-VR games and never was any issue with VAC.

There is the demo version of VHT that you can try it and check if you have any issue with your gaming experience. The demo version for desktop mirroring is limited to few minutes, but you can try again after a minute.

VHT is designed/optimized to have a "low" input lag for non-VR gaming in desktop mirror mode, so this will allow you to have a competitive playing experience compared with other desktop mirroring VR apps but you will be at a disadvantage compared with playing the same game normally on a gaming monitor with a very low input lag.

So essentially with this app I can simulate a real cinema experience while watching a movie on my desktop? I have ripped some blu ray movies I bought long ago with 5.1 and 7.1 audio and this app can actually simulate direction and bass feel of a real cinema setup? I guess I will need some specific setup on my desktop for this to work?

Yes, this is exactly what VHT do: it will simulate all audio channels from a media file or from the Windows default audio device as virtual speakers. The result is that you will hear the audio as from a real audio speakers setup.

VHT is two applications in one: an integrated media player and a desktop mirroring (audio and display).

For watching videos is recommended to use the VHT’s built-in media player and you don't need any special hardware or additional software/driver for the 5.1/7.1 audio from the media file.

If you want to watch videos from internet using a web browser you don't need any special hardware or additional software/driver because all streamed videos are in stereo.

But if you want to watch a video or to play a game with 5.1 or 7.1 audio using the desktop mirror mode you do need either a real audio card with 5.1 or 7.1 capability output (all desktop PCs have it and you don't need to have real speakers or to have them connected) or a virtual audio card driver.
