EA was VERY CLEAR you did not buy the game but the service.... and they can revoke at anytime. So yeah EA stink all over it. RIP Metalhead.
Instant replay? Nope.
EA menu music..yep. But not good like in the old days.
I sure don't foresee 'overwhelmingly positive' in the reviews... 'mixed' if they are lucky.
It's not terrible but it sure ain't worth the EA price tag.
But...but...they added "legendary" players and new fields!
Agreed, it's just SMB3 with some extra fields, actual players that were baseball greats (bfd), and some minor things for franchise or something. Maybe optimized the graphics a bit, I get the odd stutter at times on a 5800X with 64 GB of RAM and a 3080. I'd blame it on running it on Linux via Proton but plenty of Windows users have reported the same thing, but that's a minor issue easily solved by dropping the crowd variety a tad.
They had a prime opportunity to add depth to season and franchise modes and didn't. Took the easy and cheap route then wanna charge AAA game price
Save your money, as much as SMB3 has characteristics that frustrate me to no end, it's still a decent game albeit a bit limited. Nothing about SMB4 is worth $50 (edit, had $60, I misread haha) to me. Or $40. Or $20. Maybe in a year or three I'll pick it up on a deep discount but yeah, EA and full price, no way.
Too bad they're missing so many of those greats. No Cobb, Musial, Berra, Kaline, Mantle, DiMaggio, etc, etc. It's bad enough they glamorised something you could do yourself if you really cared to (I know I did, I made gender swapped versions of those very same legends for a laugh on SMB2, imported to 3) but to miss out on key legends for a bunch of literal who's (not to take anything away from their careers, but c'mon, Brett freakin' Butler over Stan Musial?) and a couple obvious can't misses (Ruth, Mays)? And the effort was so lackluster, too. They don't look like the legends, the stats are all wrong (what they did to the Say Hey Kid is a travesty), they don't have their unique quirks, their names are butchered by the announcer...what was even the point? It'd be like Super Mega Basketball, but instead of Tim Duncan, you put in Kwame Brown.
Go read the steam T's and C's. guess what you don't buy any games on steam you buy a right to use them Steam can revoke at any time.
Well, sure there is. You can blame a player for farting in the locker room!
Other than that SMB3 is all I need. Being able to clap a baseball right into a pitchers gonads is all I need out of a sports game and this is after years of FiFA / NHL / Madden / The Show. HAHAHA!
There is no support/update/concern/care for this game. We are on our own, it will never change, it is what it is. Sorry, that's the reality.
