What's next for metalhead? New game?
I seem to recall the last update being the final one for SMB3. Is that true?

If not. Is there a new game in the works?

Not necessarily. Does EA only buy devs to buyout the competition?

Not always, but the quality always suffers as EA relentlessly crushes the game to fit into the EA mold.

Among the things I expected to drift thru a rather slow steam forum an EA apologists was not on my bingo card.

If you have verifiable proof that EA has completely gutted MetalHead and forced them to work on something horrific, please share it. By all means, I will eat crow.

The anti-EA caterwauling was cute for the first couple of weeks, but now you're all coming across like Karens.
And this statement shows that you really have no idea what a "Karen" is. We are just making projections based on plenty of past experience. I would love to be proven wrong, but history is on my side.

I go back and forth thinking about EA, Metalhead and baseball games...

EA sports has the actual sports leagues in their games dont they? NFL, FIFA, NHL, NBA, PGA and F1? But #1 EA Sports hasn't made a baseball game in a long time and #2 MLB The Show by San Diego Studios/Sony is the one currently making the baseball games based off of the actual sports league. MLBTS was on Playstation for the longest time but i read that recently it was released on XBOX and a PC release may be next.

It just doesnt add up that EA Sports, who has not made a baseball game in years, would try to "get rid of competition" by buying out Metalhead when there is a chance that MLB The Show by Sony, who has been making the game for several years, could be coming to PC. Seems like it would increase EA Sports' chances of making a better baseball game by using Metalheads talent and software to compete with MLBTS/Sony instead of EA Sports thinking they can do it from scratch or with developers from their other sports franchise games.

I know that EA is the devil, has a lot of scummy practices and does buy out companies just to get them out of the way. But with Metalhead's situation it just doesnt add up with factoring in all the other stuff.

I thought I read somewhere that EA bought it out because the CEO's kid said they liked the game, or something like that.

Is your guys' hate boner for EA Sports so strong that you cant even tell the difference between an apologist and someone telling you to wait and see? IndigoAK even told you after your post that they weren't an apologist and you come up with this line "learn a bit about what you're apologizing for".

Ya'll need to lay off the anti-EA hyperbole. They've published quite a few games in the several years where they gave the developers near total creative freedom. Their EA Originals program (where they fund 100% of a game's development under a third-party studio) has put out some really highly or solidly reviewed games: Fe, Sea of Solitude, A Way Out, It Takes Two, both Unravel games, Lost in Random.

And there ARE internal EA studios that are given more free reign than others: Respawn, The Sims Studio/Maxis for instance. Hell, some of them have too much free reign (read: Bioware).

Until there's actual, verifiable information to go on about how EA has restructured MetalHead, if at all, ya'll need to cool it.
Gotta disagree. For the few good games mentioned you are ignoring all the crap with EA at the helm including their entire sports line up. Intentionally designed to be lacking so you buy next year. That is their practice and NO ONE can deny that. The "good" games that are left alone by EA, make them money and pleasing their shareholders is all they care about. And Bioware were once great and Bethesda as well. Funny how the turn from greatness all happened after the EA incorporation. Gamers hate them and with good reason. Type F^&% Electronic Arts in your google and you get 23,300,000 pages. 23 million!

You are correct about MLB the show. I errantly thought that was an EA title. So perhaps this is good news for metalhead to develop a baseball game. Don't matterthough. If this is the case EA will buy the Liscense to the league, remove any competition and design their "maybe they'll get it right next year" customer rip-off.

Sure I am guilty of a little chicken little the sky is falling, but please provide ONE example of a good EA sports game in the past 5 years. I dont mean PvP customer gouging super team competition. I mean a sports game a single person can enjoy with deep franchise, ERROR free game play and is not intentionally broken or have a previous feature removed so you will buy Next years version. Just one.

Corp apologist are fascinating creatures. In denial about what they're doing even while they're doing it.

The only optimism I have for EA buying out Metalhead is that EA wants to make MVP Baseball again in the future.
