AI doesn't throw enough balls?
I just started trying out this game today. I've been slowly upping the EGO level I'm playing at, am now to 30. In 8 games I haven't walked once, though it doesn't seem to matter as I'm scoring 8-10 runs a game. While I'm sure the lack of walks is partially my fault, It feels like the AI doesn't throw enough pitches outside the strike zone. In fact, if you get the count to 2-0, you can bet the next pitch is coming right down the pipe, regardless of pitcher accuracy.

Is this a correct conclusion? Does it change any at higher difficulty levels.

Not my experience, and I've been doing exactly the same. I also started at zero and now my EGO level is 30. There have been plenty of different pitches. However, I found out that the lower levels are a cakewalk: I usually scored over 25 runs per game.

My suggestion would be to try a higher EGO, perhaps 50, and see what happens.

At higher ego levels, pitches are harder to hit, so swinging at everything quickly results in a lot of strikeouts. So naturally you don't swing at so many pitches, and you'll get a few walks, especially with players that have high batting stats.
Wow! I'm at ego 50 and am usually walked 5ish times a game. Pitchers will go 8 straight pitches being balls almost every game (never 9).

The AI throws quite a few balls at high EGO levels, I'm assuming lower levels are more straight-forward to allow an easier time at bat. Playing at 75 EGO, the AI will throw different pitches both inside and (sometimes barely) outside the zone. In fact, it makes pretty intelligent decisions depending on the batter and situation; if there's a runner in scoring position and the DH is on deck you're likely to see four straight balls instead of one potentially hit-able strike.

75 ego? Holy cow, I'm struggling at 50.

It's the same concept, you just need to make fast decisions on the field and understand your options when aiming for a specific result at bat.

At lower ego the pitcher tends to throw more middle of the plate meatballs too, so players tend to be much more aggressive hitters than in reality.

I usually don't bat above 51 ego so I only walk about 1 or 2 times per game just because there are a lot of very hittable pitches at that ego level. Once you get into the 60s the pitcher uses more of the strike zone and you have to learn to be more patient.

Watch a game or 2, the AI ends up throwing plenty of walks. Players are just usually aggressive enough at the plate that they don't get to ball 4
