Surface Pro, fullscreen broken
Just bough a surface pro, game is working ok in windowed mode, but i tried a few res in fullscreen without success. The screen is not cropped correctly and the game is basically unplayable. Any solution on this? It's pretty the only game is was unable to play so far...

Exact same issues with a Surface Pro 2. Was looking forward to adding this to my collection of games I could enjoy with only a stylus.

After lots of googling, found zero help but I think I've got it mostly figured out. Hopefully this helps others!

Symptoms:
* Choosing to start the game fullscreen results in an unresponsive and cropped start screen - no response with touch/stylus/or keyboard - necessary to open task manager to end the program and start over.
* Starting the game in windowed mode, whatever resolution you pick, results in a working interface, but cropped screen taking up the whole physical screen and missing a band on all 4 sides - as a result, you can't get through the character creation process to start a new game (no "next" button to access along the top), and you can only do tutorials up to the point where you're supposed to activate a skill (these are normally located along the bottom).

Partial Solution:
* Find the game executable - mine was at ..Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Dungeons of Dredmor/Dungeons of Dredmor.exe
* Right click --> Properties
* Compatibility Tab: tick the box that reads "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
* Click "Apply" and try starting the game again, using windowed mode.

I find this is now a functioning game, but there remain UI/resolution issues:
* The Surface's native resolution for reference is 1900x1080.
* Fullscreen remains unresponsive, and windowed mode at native resolution doesn't work because the bottom edge of the game window ends up behind the task bar normally occurring along the bottom of the Windows desktop... rendering skills and such inaccessible.
* To avoid the taskbar problem, you have to start the game at least a few resolution ticks down to reduce the overall window height. 1600x900 seems to be the highest working option in that regard
* At this point, the game is playable, but with some serious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥:

1. Text and the UI in general are frustratingly tiny. Playing with only fingers is still a pipe dream - precision of a stylus or mouse is necessary to finangle with the inventory, skills, character sheet and so forth.
2. Hover text (and there's a lot of it) is difficult to read for a right-handed player - pops up right under the stylus most of the time.
3. Honestly I feel like I'm missing out on a good chunk of the game experience , as so much squinting is required to interpret the art and text - my eyes just get tired!

Would love for any others wrestling this game onto their Surfaces or similar tablets to share any further insights/discoveries! :D:

New discoveries!

the little gold box at the top-right of the character portrait along the bottom will rescale everything along the lower edge - perfect!

there's a similar icon for the inventory window that toggles a larger scaling as well.

I don't yet see a similar toggle for the character sheet, but these two fixes go a long way to help make the game more accessible to those of us with high-res/tiny screens and aging eyes!

Some toggle to have hover text appear to the left of the cursor would be a great addition... I wonder if this is a mod?
