I've tried to like combinations like Vegan/Vampire/Magical Law. It has potential: Vegan's stats are great for a melee character, especially that health regen for a vampire, and you can polymorph animals into other things to avoid the penalty, or simply use Rune of Objection to project the penalty onto enemies when it appears. But it's still pretty fiddly, especially in the first few floors. I just think the whole skill design is "have some power in exchange for being annoyed", and I don't play games to be annoyed.
I like using this skill tree in conjuction with the druid mod. Both give you extra exp for killing veggies and both are nature related.
That and you don't have to be afraid of diggle archmages cursing you.
It works even better combined with geology becaouse you can buff your pets with Plutonic Fis, which makes getting rid of the clutter SO much faster.
