Amber Ring of Undending Time issues...

I see that there are a lot of bug threads, but hey, something specific. When I put the Amber Ring of Unending Time on and hit something (triggering the ring's shock attack), the game freezes, grinds for a minute, and crashes. When I restart it, the save file I was using has usually been corrupted (only three of the seven skills show on the "choose a file" screen, and when I click on it, the game crashes again), though if I completely reboot Steam I can often recover the character from an autosave. This has happened with two characters, and it's the only serious bug I've ever had. Thoughts?

It's not mentioned at all on the official forums. I actually had to look the ring up in Dredmorpedia just to verify that it's not from a mod (it's not). It's not a known bug, but the item must be pretty uncommon (I've never seen it, and I've played the game a lot).

Very often, corrupt saved games result from a steam cloud problem (it affects lots of different games, btw). But what you described seems like it might be something different. But if you want to try it, I have a VERY recent reply describing how to disable the steam cloud that shouldn't be hard for you to find.

Thanks! I'll post it to that other site, and try disabling the cloud. I never use it anyway...

BTW, after I posted that, I did later find a comment regarding the ring. It is a known bug, apparently fixed in the most current beta. Unfortunately, it may be a wait until that one is officially released, due to the work shifting towards Clockwork Empires (Gaslamp is a small company). However, I believe that you can select to download the beta in your steam settings (can't remember off the top of my head where that setting is located exactly).

Yep, sounds like it has a lot of potential, especially with the sense of humor that seems to be going into it.
