Best Diggle God vs. Dredmor?
Howdy,

Getting very close to my first encounter with dredmor. I've seen a few diggle god statues in these last few floors, and I'm wondering what the best buff would be to go against him.

My build is a melee-focused fighter with heavy armor and swords. I know you can't manfight dredmor, so I have Mysterious Ways to make space and tons of Clockwork throwing weapons for ranged combat, which is my plan for the encounter.

Right now I'm using the Diggle God of War, but I've heard the God of Death is nice because it gives you great resistance against a lot of spells dredmor uses. Which God do you think would work best?

The thing to keep in mind with the god of death is that it completely disables passive regen of HP and MP, which is annoying.

God of war is a good choice, it'll buff your clockwork sawblades. If you have a means of teleporting and a big stack of thrown weapons Dredmor shouldn't be too much of a problem. If you're worried about incoming spell damage, now is the time to start chewing on the grunge ears you've probably had piling up.

Grunge ears, good advice!! I actually didn't realize they'd help.

It's very easy to forget about mushrooms and potions. But hell, if you're about to fight Dredmor that's a good time to use them. Not like there'll be anything to do with 'em afterwards.

Another easily overlooked thing: Encrusting. While what exactly you can do depends on your crafting stats, there are plenty of useful stat boosts to be had that way. If you're worried about instability, only add one encrust per item. The first one is always safe no matter what.

Dredmor's scariest skill is probably Fulminaric bolt, so boosting your voltaic and blasting resistances should help. He's also vulnerable to silence if you have any sonic wands kicking about.

What about Krong anvils? I only used the ones in the top half floors once before realizing it was probably a waste to buff equipment I wouldn't be using for the end boss fight if I wasn't struggling too hard to get there. I also can recharge them once.

So I've got about 8 floors of dual-charge anvils waiting to buff my end-game eq, and 7 floors of one-charge anvils. Should I just go buff everything up, or is it risky to to use anvils on super-high level eq because I can't replace it if they get debuffed hard?

I'm hardly an expert, but I know that Krong debuffs you with a 2/7 chance, so you're more likely than not going to suffer a fair few debuffs if you do that. I'd stick to just buffing the lesser portions of your equipment, say you have some sub-par gloves. It's also nice to have blank copies of what you're Kronging, that way if the first result you get is a debuff you can try again.

Consider buffing your sight range, using say a potion of clear vision. If you can see Dredmor but he can't see you that's another couple of turns of throwing stuff without getting a fulminaric bolt to the face in retaliation.

Like I said at the start though, Dredmor really isn't that hard. With a teleport skill, a high melee damage stat and a good stack of clockwork sawblades you'll shred him, no problem.
