I don't understand Haematic Phylactery...
Pretty basic question probably, but would be great if someone can help me out:
What is Haematic Phylactery actually good for?
When you create it, you take a pretty heavy debuff, which apparently is not removable and does not go away until you consume the Phylactery again. Then it does nothing except remove the debuff. What's the point of that?
I certainly missed something, but I'm stumped here. Can anyone give me a hint?

The Haematic Phylactery skill creates an item of the same name and is placed in your inventory upon using the skill. Each time you use this skill you gain a BUFF, notice the word I used, BUFF, that decreases your stats.
The item is basically heart that restores 50 hp and 25 mp. It is by far the biggest healing amount an item can heal for.

The reason I said it is a buff is because you can't get rid of it by uncursing yourself with the different methods the game gives you. It's put like that for a reason. You can't just create 50 hearts and then uncurse yourself while having 50 of the best healing items in the game.

You can also find these hearts as a random item throughout your adventure. Any heart you consume, even ones not created from the skill will also remove the buff from the skill.

The more you know. Also don't lose the heart once you use the skill. It's kinda like losing a real life kidney. You ain't getting that back unless you put it back xD

I don't recall all of the details of it, but I did find this on the old GLG forums:
"Phylacterys are pretty much a 'get out of jail free' card:

Restores :life:50 + :magic_power:/2
Recovers :mana:20
Curses curses

All that for debuff that equates to:

:melee_power:-1
:life:-9
:mana:-8
:life_regen:-2
:mana_regen:-2

Remember that drinking the Phylactery removes this debuff, recovering the :life: and :mana: that was removed. Drink it halfway through a Zoo and it's almost as good as a level up.

Add a limit of 1 Phylactery and prevent the debuff from being removed except by drinking it. It'd still be worth it. "

Thanks a lot for your answers!
So it actually does something else beyond just removing the (de)buff. I did not actually notice that when I tried it. And I did so several time. Maybe I was at full health and mana already when I tried; I'm not quite sure right now.
And it has this effect on any character, even one who hasn't got the Blood Mage skill and just found it?
