if my 100% completion of Dungeons of Dredmor has just gone to 99% due to an achievement that can't be completed... then the game designer has no honor...
explain the reasoning behind hoping this is the only new achievement they add?
The game released in 2011, I first and primarily played it in ~2015, I primarily achievement hunted it in 2020, I thought the studio was dead and the game was officially done, I thought I had had my fun and could put it up on the shelf and move on... now suddenly, an achievement has been added... and I am hoping this is not going to become a pattern. I'm mentally and emotionally done with Dungeons of Dredmor, I don't have fun playing it anymore, I moved on, I want to play other games, I don't want to keep having to redownload it and crack it open to hunt new achievements years after I finished. I understand there are people who played at launch who still play and enjoy it to this day, I am not one of them, I think it's good that the game's getting updated, but I don't want those updates to coincide with achievements, I want to be able to move on.
Then just...don't play the game anymore? No one is holding you hostage.
Simply expressing that you don't care about achievements doesn't change the fact that I do. Not returning to get the achievement once the much teased update drops isn't an option, as Steam offers no way to reset/remove a game from ones achievement statistics. Unless a future update to the achievement system changes that, I'm stuck with this, not because anyone else has a gun to my head, but because of my passion.
This is true. I've blatantly gotten achievements by simply cheesing the system just because I wanted to get the little picture and for the number to go up. That's it. It's silly, and I know it's silly, and oftentimes it's not even fun being FORCED TO DO THIS BY THE DEVELOPERS :D
But like, it's also good to have a goal that you strive for. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that either.
Just as long as you know it's silly.
