Cracked Orb.
What is it good for if anything and more importantly, is there a players manual or something with all this info?

Thanks.

It's an equippable item. It give stats, more specifically geared towards magic users.

It is also used in a few crafting recipes to craft other orbs and such.

Other than that it's a really crappy orb commonly found almost just about everywhere.

You can equip two if you wanted, but why exactly would you?

Here's the latest and greatest version of Dredmorpedia (I forget who it was, but some generous individual took it upon himself to update and maintain a new version of this resource): http://dredmorpedia.com/

It's not perfect, but beggars can't be choosers.

BTW, stuff like this would NEVER go into a manual because it's considered a 'spoiler'. In a traditional roguelike, you are supposed to discover things like this for yourself. But I get that more and more, games are shying away from making the player do most of that kind of work.

I don't want to learn the game, I play by guidelines! I have a life and don't have time to learn this crap! :ratcoon:

There's almost always spoilers available for many roguelikes, for people who are like Rusty Dragon. Remember that this is a solo game so you can play it however you prefer. I admit that I occasionally do use spoilers when I can't remember something (I recently started playing on occasion again, after a long time staying away from the game). I found an item yesterday in a shop that I could not recall what it was for. I was deciding whether it was worth stealing from Brax (it wasn't).

It's actually more of a tradition to use spoilers than you might think. I used to feel that I was pitifully bad at the game Rogue, because there were all of these people who were bragging about how good they had done in their last run, etc. Turns out they were ALL using spoilers. Then again, Rogue (and Nethack) was considered almost impossible to win without spoilers and hints and guides. And that was back when they were kind of a new genre.

Then the game (and genre in general) isn't for you.
It was a sarcasm and complementary followup to Haldurson's post. ;D
About how rediculous some people nowadays are. They want to play complex, difficult and mysterious games, but same time don't want to experience any of those features.
They also tend to be the most vocal and scandalous one.
