Recommended Lightning Gun Hybrid Build
'sup guys and gals, BlytzDragon's here!
I just started the game and I'm overwhelmed by choice between freeform powers. I like to base my powers of my sona, who is a Lightning Dragon who also does energy swords and shoot guns. And I'm not sure what build to create.
Should I stick to The Temptest equilivant in freeform or should I mix it up with guns and maybe even a bit of the energy sword? Also should I make the build once I reach level 40 or do it at level 6, the minimum level after the tutorial?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

But yea in general for the damage powers, unless you know of a very specific synergy with another set you wanna try out you are usually better off just staying within one set.
Wich is further enhanced by the fact that there are mods that enhance the damage of powers from a specific power-set (for electricity its the blue dragon-eye mod that drops from the Hi-Pan special alert).

And well Lighting and Ammo dont have any synergy in that way, at least that I know or can think of.

The one thing I've noticed in my relatively short play time, never mix melee and ranged, they use separate base stats for damage, so if you try to do both, you'll end up weak in both.

Interesting. I'll focus on Lightning powers mixed with guns then. But I'm not sure what powers to use since both sounds very interesting to me. :csgogun::lg:

uni is completely right on that one, the only one that can do that is tk-swords cause it uses ego even though being melee-powers, but you still loose something on the form, since the only true hybrid-form (melee and ranged getting the same bonus) is aspect of the machine, wich is completely useless, due to the fact that you only get (AND KEEP) stacks when you make a kill, so in bossfights without adds, you will go down to 1 stack.

Lightning and ammo can be mixed, but they don't really work of each other, I recommend going with one primary and maybe add some flavourish auxilliary stuff from the other like making a lightning build and taking holdout-shot with the stim-pack advantage for self-healing.

Basically what you want in damage powers is one good single target attack, one good AoE and one debuff against the kind of damage you do, then depending on the set a debuff-refresher might be helpfull (if the debuff itself needs to be charged but the refresher can just be tapped), besides that you need whatever activates your energy return-power.

Ah fair enough. Sounds like it's better to focus on one skill tree rather than mixing and matching. I'll focus on the lightning powers since I don't like to confuse myself with choice more than necessary. Thank you for the answer.

One thing that is worth remembering: Just about any build will work as long as you don't expect to take part in Cosmics and Rampages.

A pure RP build might not get top 20 on the score board for an event boss, but it will still contribute. And it will still be able to complete lairs with a team, even if the path may be slower.
