Killing monthly subs and Freeform...
Was a HUGE mistake. Now, to get access to all of your freeform characters you happily paid the sub for, you have to either shell out 30 bucks a pop for each one to be freeform (and still possibly lose access to powers and costume pieces you once had) or 300 bucks for the 'lifetime' subscription.

The freeform system was really the only thing this game had going for it. I hope, one day, I will live long enough to see a good super hero mmo again.

Or wait for them to go on sale. There was a LTS for 120 sale just recently. Prior to the change, we used to get normal sub sales every 3 months and LTS was also on each other sale aka 6 months. With no more normal subs, we may see just LTS sales every 3 months. Cryptic would be smart to do that but who knows what they are going to do going forward on that. Also freeform slot sales keep an eye out for.

We're left with the options of waiting for the City of Heroes private server to be finished and waiting for City of Titans to be finished. Both of which, I'm honestly tired of waiting on. They're both taking way too long and they feel like they'll never be finished. I can understand why, but it seems like the only way we'll get a decent super hero MMO is if a serious game developer decides to make one.

You would think Marvel/Disney would make one with all the movies they're spewing out. But they'd rather make a ton of mobile games because they make more money.

I doubt Marvel ever really wanted a full MMO. Remember, this game originally was going to be a Marvel game but they pulled out. So Cryptic got the Champions IP to finish the work they had put in for the Marvel MMO.

DCUO has pluses and minuses but like you said, seems to be the only superhero based MMOs we will see for the foreseeable future. I've given up on hope with City of Titans. If it comes then it comes but it's long past time to not still expecting it to be released.

If you do it's because of outside forces that you (the player) were perfectly able to take care of at no cost

No cost except for either 30 bucks per character to give them freeform again, or 300 for a lifetime subscription? You know, other than that perhaps.

"(and still possibly losing costumes and powers)"

That's blantantly false

Except for that thing where they now say you have to get some sort of tokens to rebuy costume pieces and garbage like that.

So yeah, theres that.

Go bother someone else, kiddo.

... 20, especially if you want to convert a bunch of character not taking the 3slots for 6k zen option would be really dumb

They've literally said that nowhere.

The tokens are for purchasing old monthly sub rewards. You know, the defunct system that gave things only if you were subbed that particular month or had a lifetime.

You should practice your reading comprehension

The thing is, they do have mentions of needing to purchase costume pieces with some sort of token system now. If there are more details elsewhere, like say within the zen store or wherever, it is not reachable from the outside...so...I would have no way to see it. The fact that their 'new' crappy system is so opaque is yet another issue with it.

But again, I get it. You are just another droning fanboy that is so common in gaming these days, and what has made the hobby turn in to such garbage with developers like this. But, it does not matter. You may return to your proper place kneeling at the altar of Cryptic...I am certain they will richly reward your servitude.

I just prefer tha when people complain about stuff it's not things they pulled out of thin air is all.

There are no costume tokens that need to be purchased.

It's never been mentioned.

The closest to it are the sub reward tokens they bundled with the premium pack.

Nothing that's previously unlocked was relocked with forcing players to repurchase because cryptic made the premium pack completely free to players who ever subbed ever, making sub costume packs permanently unlocked for them.

But by all means default to the basic internet insults instead of actually showing me where it says we need to buy tokens to unlock costume parts we already bought.

I am confused on the tokens too. But might be the premium pack he's referring to. But those are for unclaimed pieces if they weren't claimed when available. Not LTS but just a regular sub had to claim them the month they were originally available.

As you can see by the person that posted just below you...they obviously did not make that aspect clear so there you go. And once more...if you looke at my original post I even stated then 'possibly' so...maybe you should try a little reading comprehension as well.

Regardless of your adorable attempts, the truth is still that cryptic did a pretty awful thing here and did not make it very clear what they did. Hell, it still has the subscribe and go freeform thing on the loading page. When you click it, you can even get to a link about doing a monthly sub now, only when you go there it just doesnt work. It took having to email support about it not working to even find out that was the case.

Yes, I am just one customer they have lost here, but where theres one theres usually more.

Again, hopefully, one day, a decent developer will make another good super hero mmo. I won't hold my breath though, cause modern gamers will apparently accept any pile of crap so long as its wrapped in a pretty bow.

The entire point was pretty well summed up in the original post so...what is your entire point at this point? Again, move along... you serve no purpose here. All you do is continuely show how much of a pathetic fanboy you are.

If you meant my comment, I mean your statement about tokens confused me. I don't know what you meant by needing tokens to get things you already unlocked.

Since the story content is very limited in updates, they should have killed the sub idea a long time ago. There has been more story additions to games like the first Guild Wars that doesn't have a sub system in place. This game is in the same type of maintenance mode as GW1.

regularly on sale too, like right after the change for 120...

Could they have implemented cheaper ways for long-time subbers to convert? Yes they could and honestly I would've prefered if they did, even though it doesnt concern me, but it would actually just have been nice, its nothing you are in any way entitled to, everything you paid for you got.

hmm on a closer look seems you "pretty well summed up" a lot of nonsense.

They used to do sub sales every 3 months with LTS every 6 months. So like one sub sale would have LTS sale too then the next not. Now that subs are a thing of the past, we might just see LTS sales every 3 months. Since the change happened, this could turn out to be true or not. But we will know if we get 2 more LTS sales within the next 6 months.

Pretty much. All this crying over the sub change on Steam doesn't make a lick of sense. People know if they post these nonsense threads on the Cryptic forums that it won't make a difference.

Star Trek Online also went through the same changes. They were announced at the same time for both games. But the Freeform issue was brought up and so for Champions they went back to the drawing board. Star Trek doesn't have anything like Freeform so it went through. So anyone who wanted change to the system should have voiced their opinion on the forums at that time. I have no sympathy for the crybabies on Steam now saying something and there is no dev presence here to even read it. And people know it and still complaining here instead of where someone at Cryptic can actually see it.
