crafting

I am in act 2 but i don't get better gear anymore.I know i can find some and do a lot of fights.
My question is is there a way to use the crafting to get better gear?because now I can only make weapons from 7-10 dmg and armor level 2.
The reason i want to make armor of armor level 3 and higher damage is because i have a lot of materials and i want to use them for a good way. tactical items i was able to build the level to javeline(now every charcter has it)

Can someone help me?

You can get 3 levels of equipment, with 3 levels of smithing. If you choose your resources you are able to get to level 3 crafting towards the tail end of Act 2.

Although I found modding gear brings solid benefits too. For instance 10 armour and 7 sheild on one of my companions largely lucky drop and mods.
